  • Luxury site on an off-grid smallholding with country views
  • A 20-minute drive from Dinefwr Castle and Llandeilo
  • Within an hour of Pembrokeshire beaches and Oakwood Theme Park
Oh my word, this one’s a Camarthenshire cracker…. Oak Tree Farm Glamping is an off-grid, family-run smallholding with views of pasture, oak woodlands and Welsh hills, 15 minutes’ drive from the town of Llandeilo: if you’re after hikes and castles in the Brecon Beacons, surfing and rockpooling on Pembrokeshire’s beaches or white-knuckle adventure activities on the rivers and rock faces, you’ll have a packed schedule here. On site, things are simple and easy: interiors of all units are prettied up with fairy lights, and outdoor areas are set up for alfresco dining with picnic tables, camp kitchens and firepits, and all wood supplied free of charge. Shared facilities include composting toilets and gas-powered showers. There are plenty of pubs, takeaways and shops a 20-minute drive away in Llandeilo, while just outside town, Dinefwr Castle rises over the Tywi valley, the medieval ruins surrounded by a deer park and a nature reserve where you might spot some of Britain’s more elusive creatures like otters, voles, badgers and polecats. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

Star bell tent (hot tub, secluded)

Liked: Lovely place with really helpful and friendly owners who made sure we had plenty of wood for the firepit and a heater to dry the tent out inside given the very wet summer so far. Thank you :)

Star bell tent (hot tub, secluded)

Liked: The site was quiet and very serene. Cliff was a very attentive host, making sure we had fire wood and ice packs for the cooler. The hot tub was amazing, just what we needed on a special anniversary break ☺️ and our two young sons especially enjoyed the proximity to the small (but shallow) stream - I felt very safe with them playing in and around it. Little Willow the puppy was a lovely little thing, and again, my children loved seeing her and the chickens and pigs. The tent was spacious and had everything that we needed and it's proximity to Llandeilo made popping out for breakfast easy. Thank you for a lovely stay

Star bell tent (hot tub, secluded)

Liked: Lovely secluded spot. Beautiful stream and surroundings. Friendly host, decent loo. Everything but food and clothes was already there. It was defiantly better than I expected.

Disliked: Nothing really. I think they will continue to add to this site and it will only get better as time goes on. Can’t wait to visit again.

Bell tent

Liked: Took a bit of a job to find as SAT NAV didn't pick up the location. Location was stunning as described. Glamping bell tents scattered across the woods near by the creak. we were two families with young children, so ,couldn't ask for more. Kids had absolutely time of their lives , in the water out the fields, you name it , they had FUN. Owner couple and little E was absolutely welcomed us, Even provided with extra blankets as night felt too cold for ladies. We were lucky to have our tents near to the washing/toilets facilities . Felt a bit sorry for others who stayed in other tents as they had to walk a bit for the facilities. Overall we had a great experience, Definitely would recommend to other families with young kids.

From the manager: Hi there thanks for your review. Ellie loved playing games and walking in the stream with all the children. Some glampers prefer a more secluded tent which is the reason they have to walk a bit further. Glad you all had a good time. Regards Cliff, Jemma & Ellie

Bell tent

Liked: They get it right here. The owners are just lovely people. Couldn’t be kinder. Warm and welcoming. Took time to meet and chat with each of the incoming residents. It’s quiet and not crowded. You can socialise a little or have your own space. The tents are beautifully kitted out. Clean and comfortable with a picture perfect view. Barbecues and fire pits are provided with fire wood and we even managed to get some axe throwing in. Wish these folks well with this and they’re burgeoning wedding venue business.

Local attractions

The castle of Carreg Cennen delivers cracking views across the Brecon Beacons, with plenty of trails going further and higher into the surrounding national park. Or you might prefer to sit and let the world pass by, via a vintage ride on the Gwili Steam Railway; both are half an hour’s drive away. If you’re after a seaside day, it’s 50 minutes to the beach at Pembrey Country Park, topped off with horse riding on the park's inland trails and high speed trips down the dry ski slope. The sands at Saundersfoot and Tenby, both an hour away, are great for paddling and surfing; the latter’s also a top departure point for boat trips to Caldey Island and seal-spotting sea safaris. Adventurous sorts can tackle the undulating all-terrain course of Quad Challenge at Tycroes (half an hour), zipwires, caving and abseiling at Morfa Bay Adventure, or the wetter thrills of rafting and tubing at Adventure Beyond in Llandysul, both 50 minutes away. If you’re up for action on an even grander scale, it’s an hour to the assorted rides, indoor waterslides and sporting challenges of Oakwood Theme Park, the Blue Lagoon and Heatherton World of Activities.
