Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Well maintained site with WC and shower block as you would expect at home. Wonderful location overlooking the estuary with fantastic rugged walks through countryside and along coastline for our furry friends. Great wi-fi on site to keep in touch with the rest of world and all going on back home. Stock up well as no local shop, however duck eggs available by the half dozen.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Great facilities, helpful staff and resident caravan locals! Gate was open, so can arrive late! Nb - The electric pitches were all taken up by caravans, we were the only campervan at the time but there’s a whole field dedicated to non-electric grass pitches. Great view of Carmathen Bay.

Disliked: Nothing

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Our pitch was hard standing next to the loos and showers. These were very nice, clean, warm and had a piped radio station playing. Also a disabled washroom with the same features.

Disliked: Very narrow village Road leading to site. Very difficult to gain access by village homes especially if cars are parked. We we in a CV40 and I had a few beads of sweat watching the back of my van miss the walls by Inches so would not even try with a double axle. Lol

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: The spotless toilets and shower block. Lovely hot shower. We were the only tent on the pitch , although close to caravans with about 25% occupancy. View of beach in distance. Very quiet and no glaring light pollution -definitely would stay again.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike here.

Local attractions

Planning on living it up (or lounging it out) at the beach? At Ferryside beach (10 minutes' drive), a stroll around the dunes or a rummage through some of the rockpools makes for a leisurely day, while Llanelli (half an hour) has a bigger beachside buzz, thanks to kayaking and canoeing (or inland, an indoor play centre with a sports area). For those of you after more active pursuits, perhaps you’ll want to gravitate over to Glyn Abbey Golf Club (15 minutes) and Ashburnham Golf Club (20 minutes) or Pembrey Country Park (20 minutes) for everything from skiing and tobogganing to cycle hire and a miniature railway. There’s Ffos Las Racecourse (15 minutes) for some spectator sports (on race day that is), or the extra adrenaline over at Oakwood Theme Park (55 minutes) and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (50 minutes). But to bring things back to earth, the National Botanic Garden of Wales (half an hour) has a tropical house, glasshouse and bird of prey centre. For a trip backwards in time the medieval Kidwelly Castle (five minutes), Kidwelly Industrial Museum (10 minutes) and Llansteffan Castle (35 minutes) will all fit the bill. As for those of you with an artistic streak, maybe shoot for Carmarthen’s market or arts and crafts workshops (20 minutes).
