Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Easy to access, well maintained and very pleasant site with a great wild flower meadow and views to the hills beyond! The showers and facilities were decent too. There is also a good dog walking loop between the trees.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The campsite is in a lovely countryside location, very peaceful, but only a short 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk into Llandeilo. We were in a tent, and the field was well maintained and easy to pitch. There was also a part in the middle of the field, left unmowed with wild flowers, which added to the natural feel of the site. You can't park your car next to the tent, but the car park is only a short distance away. We like peaceful sites, and this fitted the bill with lovely scenery and everyone had plenty of space. There is also a field marked as "dog walking field", but it should actually say "nature trail" as it was a lovely walk with a path cut through nature thriving wild flowers and trees. There are 4 toilets and 2 showers, and while basic facilities, they are more than adequate and the showers are nice and hot.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely site, just off a main road but back enough that passing traffic is not an issue. Pitches are large and large meadow for the children to play on. Nice little dog walking area. Didn’t use the toilet/shower facilities as we had our own on board.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Good communication from the site owner. Arrival require no checking in, simply find a pitch and set up. Security was a coded gate and the owner also kept an eye on numbers. Showers were basic but very clean and free flowing hot water that was a consistent temperature. The site was relaxed and friendly and provided us with a good base to travel to three golf courses nearby.

Liked: Lovely well maintained site with good size hard standing and plenty of hook ups and water points. Just outside Llandeilo with good access onto the A40. Close to the National Gardens and Aberglasney Gardens. Friendly owners.

Disliked: Small toilet/shower block.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely location with clean facilities. Before arriving I did see many of the dislikes were regarding the lack of toilets. This has been addressed, as on my visit there was additional toilets which are now separate to the two shower rooms. Shower was great, nice hot water. Also a washing up facility behind the shower block. Pitches are a good size. Co-op 1.5 miles away for supplies. Really good value for money.

Local attractions

Carmarthenshire is a particularly scenic part of Wales, with busy market towns, high mountains, scenic valleys and – of course – serene beaches to entice. Maybe hols aren’t complete without a day of sea and sandcastles? Luckily, Llansteffan beach is a 40-minute drive from base and the Langland Bay beaches are within an hour. This is a prime spot for history buffs: as well as Dinefwr, the site is within easy reach of the ruins of Dryslwyn Castle and Talley Abbey (10 minutes), the castle and gardens at Carreg Cennen (15 minutes), and the Roman and Victorian gold mines of Dolaucothi (20 minutes). And if that’s tantalised taste buds for more below-ground adventuring, the National Showcaves Centre is 50 minutes away. Those who prefer to stay in the fresh air might be keen to take a turn around the fab Aberglasney Gardens (five minutes from the site) – made famous by the BBC’s A Garden Lost in Time – or to pay a visit to the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, 20 minutes from base. All too sedate? Oakwood Theme Park is less than an hour away if hair-raising rides more appeal…
