  • Dog-friendly five-metre bell tent with rural Carmarthenshire views
  • A 20-minute drive from Brechfa Forest; 25 minutes from Cardigan Bay
  • Fully equipped tent sleeping four, with barbecue provided
Here’s a hideaway you won’t want to skip over… Hill View Hideaway has a spacious five-metre bell tent, which sleeps four under the Carmarthenshire stars. With views of the countryside and cooking facilities outside, count on getting plenty of fresh air. There’s a firepit available to hire for an extra cost and a barbecue for cooking on; a starter pack of coals is provided and if you bring your own coals, just keep on going. If you get into the spirit of cooking over the fire, Hill View Hideaway has more logs available to be purchased. Otherwise, just sit and recharge under the unpolluted skies (which is a dream on clear nights). It’s a splendid spot, whether you’re on a romantic getaway, a family holiday or a get-together with friends. The bell tent is fully-equipped with all bed linens, towels and there are toilets and a shower available for your use. Feel free to stay tech-free but if you’d like to plug in, electricity is available for an extra charge per night too. Those with kids can tuck them into the two guest beds and take their kip in the other double bed. You may very well feel like you’re away from it all here. In actual fact, Llandysul is just a five-minute drive away. It has food shops, pubs, takeaways and a canoeing centre on the river Teifi (how splendid).

Liked: Absolutely everything

Disliked: We didn't stay longer. The glamping site had everything you needed and plenty of room inside, decorated beautifully and in an amazing little spot. We felt relaxed as soon as we arrived and was just the perfect weekend getaway ❤️

Bell tent

Liked: Beautiful location, excellent facilities, lovely host. The Bell tent was amazing, and has everything you need and more for a few days camping. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the showers and toilet facilities were the best I have seen at a campsite! We will definitely be returning!

Bell tent

Liked: Tent and facilities where clean, well equipped and had everything, if not more, than was needed for a family camping trip. All you need to start a fire, cook and clean was provided. Even had a kettle and hot water bottles for the chillier nights (obviously electric hook up additional cost, but worth it) Host was super welcoming and helpful. Location was just what we needed ... rural, peaceful and plenty of space for the boys to run around! We could simply turn up with clothes, food and drinks ... then chill.

Disliked: The chillier nights ... but that's September for you! Bring a warm jumper and extra blanket.

Bell tent

Liked: The bell tent is awesome. We brought our children, 8 and 9 and two dogs. The welcome from the beginning was fabulous. The tent is spotless, all home comforts and the fire pit with cooking pots were ace. Clear skies, full moon, dawn chorus... Shower block and toilets spotless and very modern. The whole site is fantastic for a rural getaway and we did a long walk in Brechfa forest, only a short drive away. Thank you for a lovely stay and great intro to camping out for the kids!

Bell tent

Liked: The attention to detail and inclusion of the necessaries for cooking and comfort

Disliked: Needed a broom to help sweep easier than the dust pan provided. Wasn’t aware we were so close to a camp and caravan site in the next field.

Bell tent

Liked: We loved our stay at Hill View. The Hideaway was perfect - lots of space for the family, comfy beds and bedding (towels provided too). There was the added bonus of a kettle / toaster and small fridge. The owner provided a small welcome pack of a jug of milk, tea bags / coffee / sugar, fresh eggs and home made jam - this is such a beautiful touch. There were also games for the family and a magazine for mum to read! Outside there was a large fire bowl and cooking equipment as well as a table and chairs. We really didn't need any more. The field was our own and had lovely views over the surrounding countryside. At night we looked up to perfectly clear skies spotting stars and planets. Emma came to check on us during the stay and we had a lovely chat about her future plans. The toilets / shower rooms were kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay, credit to Emma for the upkeep. The electric showers were great and warm. There is no wifi but 4G available - the kids actually didn't miss the internet for one week as the site was so lovely. The site is located near the small town of Llandysul which had a petrol station and Nisa Extra and a lovely little chinese restaurant.

Bell tent

Liked: This was our first time camping of any sort. We chose to stay in the bell tent and it was our best getaway as a family of 3. As first time campers, we weren’t prepared and did not know what to expect. However, all of that was put at ease with the campsite owners as everything we needed was available to us. The bell tent itself was extremely spacious and provided all the essentials. The additional personal touches made it extra special to us and my daughter particularly enjoyed the board games provided. We really enjoyed toasting our marshmallows on the fire pit and taking in the tranquil scenery. The showers and bathroom were super clean and modern, which we really appreciated as this was one of our biggest worries.

Disliked: Nothing 😊

Local attractions

Get into mountain biking or hiking mode in Brechfa Forest (20 minutes’ drive). There are all sorts of outdoor activities to get stuck into around Carmarthenshire, as outdoor activity organisers run activities like sea kayaking, hill walking, coasteering and surfing (and of course, Cardigan Bay is a watersports hotspot). If you’d like to know a little more about what lurks in the deep, the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre (25 minutes) is the place to go. New Quay (25 minutes), meanwhile, is the departure point for dolphin-spotting boats and fishing trips. As for all the gorgeous beaches along the Ceredigion Coast Path, you may have a hard time deciding where to head first. Penbryn (half an hour) has a peaceful sandy option and Aberporth (half an hour) is usually a little busier but has great sea fishing and sailing. Castle spotting on your mind too? There are lots of castles around, including the National Trust’s Cilgerran Castle (35 minutes), looking over the river Teifi.
