  • Well maintained Pembrokeshire shepherd's hut off the A477
  • A five-minute drive to Amroth beach; 15 minutes to Tenby
  • Self-contained unit with heating, shower room, kitchen and firepit
What a handy location this is for getting out to explore all that the mighty county of Pembrokeshire has to offer… Willow Wood Shepherd’s Hut is part of a family-run business just off the A477 at Llanteg, in a most convenient spot on the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park about five minutes’ drive from the nearest beach at Amroth. And it’s not just that beach that’s within easy reach but also those at Saundersfoot and Tenby, some stunning stretches of the coast path, walks in the Preseli Hills, and attractions including Carew Castle and Manorbier Castle. Simple access to the main road is a real bonus for getting out and about but do bear in mind that may also mean a bit of traffic noise on site. There’s just the one hut here, and it’s a fully self-contained setup with its own shower room and kitchenette (with a fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster) plus all the bits you need, including towels, bed linen and heating. Outside, a firepit and seating area mean that you can make the most of evenings in the fresh air. Shops for all the essential items are about five minutes’ drive away in Kilgetty.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Really enjoyed our stay at willow hut. Everything there you need to get away from civilization and society. Even though your very close to a main road, it doesn't interfere in the slightest, even left the window latch open all night, even had the local Tweety bird that stopped by around 4am thou :)

Disliked: Wanted to stay longer. A dimmer for the spotlights maybe

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Loved the hut and garden with a fire pit. The bed was comfortable. I was surprised how warm the hut was at night time, very cosy. The shower/toilet was very clean as well as the kitchen. Everything we needed was there. Perfect location for us as we were an hour or less in any direction from where we wanted to visit. Bonus, dog friendly

Disliked: The description says about being next to a road, it didn’t bother us at all as we were out during the day. This wouldn’t stop us booking again in future

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Lovely place, everything done really lovely. Comfortable bed, cosy hut, stunning garden with birds feeding. Ideal location to a lot of exploring. Attention to detain was to be seen every where. Lovely hosts as well!

Disliked: My wife is a light sleeper and as the hut is right next to the road (end of the garden) the noise did make the night a bit difficult. The only down side.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Absolutely a great place to stay if you want to explore that part of Wales. Some nice quiet villages locally, some great beaches close by, Amroth, Pendine, Saundersfoot. Shepards hut was completely as described, no complaints at all.

Disliked: Not really a dislike, but it is fairly close to the main route to Pembroke Dock, which is obviously a busy road, but didn’t affect our stay at all.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: The shepherds hut very clean, tidy and cozy. Located near many lovely beaches just a short drive away. Loved the space and privacy.

Disliked: Initially the traffic noise from busy bypass next to site, which after a while was forgotten about.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Absolutely loved our time at Willow Wood. Everything you could need. Warm welcome and very dog friendly. Very well thought out and excellent amenities. My partner said he had the best sleep he’d had in ages. Our dog was very relaxed too which is always a good sign.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: We absolutely loved our time here, very clean, warm, comfortable and welcoming. We drove to Amroth beach which was a 5 minute drive away and also Tenby and saundersfoot which is a 15 minute drive away. We would definitely stay again

Disliked: A few of reviews we read before staying stated that it was quite noisy because of the main road but it definitely didn’t bother us and wouldn’t put us off staying again.

Local attractions

Pembrokeshire’s coastline is famously spectacular, and you’ll be in an excellent spot here for getting out to explore much of it. Amroth (five minutes’ drive) is your nearest sandy beach, but you can also easily get to the popular towns of Saundersfoot (10 minutes) and Tenby (15 minutes) for fishing or boat trips to wildlife-packed Caldey Island. Elsewhere along the coast there are fabulous hikes along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, great surfing at Freshwater West (half an hour), more award-winning beaches like Barafundle Bay (half an hour) and historic sights like Manorbier Castle (20 minutes). And if you’d like to tick off a couple more castles, Pembroke (20 minutes) and Carew Castle & Tidal Mill (15 minutes) are both well worth a visit. For other days out you might like to hit the rides of Oakwood Theme Park (15 minutes), head up into the Preseli Hills (40 minutes) or take a trip to St Davids (50 minutes) to stroll through Britain’s smallest city and board wildlife-spotting sea safaris.
