  • Small, simple site on the Banjole shoreline, with great sea views
  • A 15-minute drive from Pula and Medulin
  • Family beach 500 metres away; bars and restaurants a short walk away
Sea views, seclusion and only a small number of people on site – take a look at Campsite Piccolo for Istria breaks away from the crowds. This little gem of a place is in a peaceful spot right on the coastline near Banjole, around 15 minutes’ drive from Medulin and Pula. Everything here has been set up to make the most of that gorgeous natural location – you can look out over the sea views (towards several small islands) from many corners of the site, or retreat into the shade of the native holm oak trees or the olive grove to find a cool spot to relax in (perhaps browsing the wifi while doing so). Not content simply to look at the sea? Braver souls can swim straight out from the rocky coastline in front of the site, while those who favour something a little less intrepid can wander off to one of several beaches along this stretch of shoreline. Centinera beach – a popular pick for families, with shallow swimming areas and an inflatable water park – is about 500 metres away. This is a place that's all about the natural scenery rather than lots of man-made entertainment, so facilities have been kept to just the essentials: guests will have access to a laundry area, barbecue area and a spacious toilet block with disabled facilities. A couple of supermarkets, beach bars and seafront restaurants are within walking distance, and there are more places to eat and drink a kilometre away in the village centre.

Local attractions

There are some fine beaches to pick from along the shoreline, and some intriguing islands to explore too… from the marina in Pula (15 minutes’ drive) you can pick up the passenger ferry to Veruda island or organise boat trips to the cluster of islands in the Brijuni National Park. Want to see what lurks below the surface? A scuba diving centre is about five minutes’ walk from the site, and there’s a great aquarium in Pula. While you’re in Pula, pay a visit to its ancient Roman sites (the Temple of Augustus, the Arena and triumphal arch) and Archaeology Museum, then walk up to the Kaštel Fortress for stunning views over the city and sea. If you’ve got an appetite for more history, head then to the Vižula archaeological park (15 minutes); if you’d prefer to keep things natural, continue on to the Kamenjak Peninsula (20 minutes) for coast walks, windsurfing, paddleboarding and beach time. Keep your eyes peeled and you may spot dinosaur footprints around here too…
