  • Peaceful site on a peninsula on Lac du Barrage d'Enchanet
  • Lake for swimming and fishing, beach, canoe hire and riding centre
  • Sauna, Jacuzzi, pool, games room and bar-restaurant
On land there's horse riding and hiking, on water there's canoeing and fishing… all available straight from site at Arnac's Village Vacances La Gineste. And there's also a beach. La Gineste's peaceful three hectares on a Lac du Barrage peninsula include lakeside sands for lazy days, as well as a watersports centre with canoe hire, and fishing spots where you can angle for pike, perch, carp and trout. There's also a riding centre for horse and pony riding, and several marked trails for walking or cycling around the village and lake. If your energy levels on hol aren't quite that high, a wellness area with sauna and Jacuzzi is here too, and a pool with sun loungers alongside. There are also tennis and volleyball courts, a games room, and a kids' club and regular family entertainment in summer with antics such as karaoke, dancing and – cameras at the ready – inflatable sumo wrestling. A bar-restaurant and a mini market are on hand to cover the eats and drinks; for the essentials, there's a launderette and washrooms with toilets, showers and disabled access.

Local attractions

Stay close to home for a range of excellent options on and off the water, including fishing, swimming and canoeing on the lake, or horse and pony excursions starting from the site. More canoeing can be sorted about 25 kilometres away from Argentat, well worth the trip as you'll be canoeing on the Upper Dordogne. The riverside town itself is scenic to wander around, as is handsome Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, in a wooded valley a few kilometres from here, and the town of Tournemire, 20 kilometres away on a hilltop overlooking the Doire river valley. Ancient and highly famed sites can be reached from around here too: the Gouffre de Padirac or Padirac Chasm, the most visited cave site in France (35 kilometres); the Puy Mary volcano, the widest in Europe (also 35 kilometres), and Rocamadour, the stunning cliffside village with the set of religious buildings known as the Cité Réligieuse.
