  • Surrounded by cereal fields, sunflowers and wide open countryside
  • Half an hour’s drive away from climbing at Fontainebleau forest
  • Breakfast baskets of croissants, breads and conserves
Fancy your next bucolic sojourn in a French bubble? Then prepare for a stay at Bulle et Dôme des Champs, set a handy half an hour’s drive away from the world-famed climbers’ paradise that is Fontainebleau forest. And as well as clambers around the beloved bouldering spots that lie sprinkled across the lands of this vast woodland area, lofty adventures of other sorts are also around this site’s pretty local vicinity, with hot air balloon rides available in Font and a tree-climbing park 15 minutes’ pootle away in Buthiers. Just over an hour’s drive from Paris, this site’s location in the Gâtinais Natural Regional Park is super handy for those travelling into or from the city; in no time you’ll be settled down in your transparent dome surrounded by cereal fields, sunflowers and wide open countryside. Lots of open grassy space lies around the ace accommodation here, so there’s oodles of space for stretching out and gazing skywards while watching the clouds above breeze by. For something active from your rural retreat, whack on your walking boots and get straight onto the GR 111 walking path – if you’re feeling super energised, you might want to wander all the way to the merveilleux little settlement of Milly-la-Forêt, or merely have a wander around the countryside instead – there’s heaps of it around. For those who’ve brought littlies along with them, a play area is on site too to keep them amply amused. Fodder-wise, also included here are breakfasts of beaut buttery croissants and breads, and well as fine French butter and delicious fruity spreads with which to slather freely over, setting you up splendidly for active days, sightseeing excursions and vineyard wanders. Bed linens and towels are provided, and for chillier climes, a heater and an extra duvet are available. Amenities are a short sleepy stroll away from the accommodation, in a small wood-clad amenities building that houses a shower and washbasin – both supplied with hot running water – and a toilet; also in an annexe here are tea- and coffee-making facilities for revitalising morning brews.

Local attractions

Once suitably relaxed and ready to intrepidly explore the locale, set off to explore the local countryside on foot or by bike, or take to the car for days of woodland wanders, old town ambles and active adventuring. Right from the site you can hot foot it along the most merveilleux GR 111 hiking trail, which stretches all the way down from Saint-Michel-sur-Orge to the pretty settlement of Milly-la-Forêt, 15 kilometres away: while strolling around its splendid old streets, make sure you go and take a look at its smashing sculpture, Le Cyclop, and explore its 74ft-high mirrored surface via the maze-like walkways that surround it. When the weather is warm, it’s highly likely that a cooling dip would be most welcome: in Buthiers is a splendid waterpark around which bathers of all ages can laze, splash and have their watery fun among its waterslides and wave pool. Also splendidly, in the complex is also an adventure tree climbing centre with high ropes courses for those with the urge to pursue adrenalised activities while there. Speaking of which, rope climbers and boulderers will be well placed here for trips to the famed climbing spots dotted around the biggest, most developed and oft lauded best bouldering area in the world: Fontainebleau forest. Also from Font you’ll be able to take to the basket of a hot air balloon for sky-high drifts slowly above the land’s verdant woodlands and vineyards, floating plast historic towns, villages and medieval monuments as you go.
