  • In the seaside resort of Canet-en-Roussillon
  • Direct access to the beach via a shaded riverside path
  • Pool, hot tub, bar, snack bar and play area
That's a rather spectacular pool (with Jacuzzi) at the Pyrénées-Orientales campsite of Camping Le Bosquet – and its seaside setting with direct access to a golden beach is rather sandily splendid too... Le Bosquet is set a short distance from the Spanish region of Catalonia (for two countries' worth of hol in one, hurrah), in the seaside resort of Canet-en-Roussillon a 400-metre stroll from the sandy beaches of Canet via a shaded riverside path (also rather pretty; have a look at the site pics.) Windsurfing, kitesurfing, beach volleyball, kayaking, paddleboarding and jetskiing are all easily accessible nearby. For days on site (also much recommended; it's très scenic), there's an outdoor pool and a hot tub to splash around in/sink into, a play area to keep the kids busy, a pétanque court, a TV room and a games room, a bar, and a snack bar. Amenities were refurbished in 2016 and include toilet blocks and showers, a launderette and a washing-up corner. The site has free wifi. A small grocery shop is to hand for essentials; to pick up more, supermarkets and shops are less than a kilometre away and restaurants, cafés and bars aplenty are an easy stroll away in the centre of Canet.

Local attractions

Camping Le Bosquet's splendid setting has it close to Catalonia, the Pyrénées-Orientales coast, seaside resorts and medieval villages, as well as museums and galleries, inland ski resorts and the mountain biking and hiking of the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Natural Park. Once it's time to sightsee after long days at the beach, take the camera to some of the coastal and inland towns, villages and cities in the region, like seaside resort Argelès, the village of Castelnou (with castle, obvs), and the cobbled streets and pastel-painted houses of the fishing village of Le More. Collioure, a seaside resort on the Languedoc coast, is also well worth a look for its famed Château Royal, the home in historical times to the kings of Majorca. And speaking of those kings… Pyrénées-Orientales capital Perpignan was once the capital of the Kingdom of Majorca and still has its royal residence in the Palace of the Kings of Majorca: have a long day here looking around and then lounging around in its gardens overlooks the city. Also have a look at Perpignan's cathedral, one of France's national historical monuments, sixteenth century Gothic house Casa Xano, the old city gates, the fine arts Hyacinthe Rigaud Museum, and the (camera needed) cloister cemetery of the Campo Santo.
