General
- Peaceful hilltop site in a Limousin forest
- A handy 300 metres from Miel lake for waterslides, fishing and pedalos
- Two pools on site, plus pétanque, ping pong and multisports court
Up for a peaceful setting in France’s Corrèze department? Then prepare to plonk yourself down at Les Hameaux de Miel in a comely countryside spot, right next to a lake and with easy access by car or by bike to the little village of Beynat.
The green and scenic surrounding lands are excellent for hikes and bike rides, with lots of routes accessible from the site, and the site handily placed for stuff like treetop adventuring, horse riding and historic hamlet tours. Lovely Miel lake is a most handy 300 metres away, for swimming, fishing, windsurfing and pedalo rides.
The site has two splendid seasonal pools: one outdoors and surrounded by sun loungers, and another covered and heated indoor pool right next door. For further leisure time spent on site and out of the water, a pétanque court, ping pong tables, a multisports court and a playground are all at active guests’ disposal, and for times when taking it a little easier is in order, there’s a TV room to stretch out in, and a free wifi service in reception.
During high season, guests can order bread and pastries from reception for a spot of light morning sustenance; otherwise, there’s a pizza restaurant and seasonal snack bar within 200 metres of the resort, and picnic and barbecue supplies can be sought at the shops over in Beynat less than 10 minutes’ drive away. At the local farmers’ markets, regional specialities like meats, cheeses, veggies and foie gras are all up for grabs.

Local attractions
The area has plenty of hiking trails, bridleways and cycle paths, many to be joined most easily right near the site. Climbing and clambering around a nearby treetop adventure park are another couple of adrenalised outdoorsy options within easy reach.
Head a few hundred metres away to the calm and pleasant waters of Miel lake for canoeing, kayaking, fishing and pedalo rides, as well as supervised swimming in the summer months and whoosing down the waterslides. Windsurfing is allowed on the lake if you’ve got your own kit, and a miniature golf course lies alongside too.
To delve into the department’s history, take a trip to spots like the fairytalesque Collonges la Rouge and medieval Curemonte and Turennes, or to Travassac’s old slate quarry to explore 100-metre cliffs and learn about the history of the village’s once-thriving mining industry.
