Have you never ever been canyoning in all your life? This Hautes-Alpes campsite is a splendid place to take the plunge for your première, as it's set among the smashing landscapes of the Buëch Valley – and yes, cracking views over valley come as standard with your pitch price. Use Camping Domaine Des 2 Soleils as a base for active family or friendly hols sliding down streams, climbing, cycling or horse riding – or perhaps you'd prefer a whirl at zipwiring, more placid pursuits like fishing and cycling, or getting exceptionally adrenalised hanging off the cables and metal bars of the valley's via ferrata…? Back, finally, at base, Des 2 Soleils is a family-run campsite with many modern facilities such as an outdoor pool and paddling pool, a kids' waterslide, a playground and courts for pétanque and general sports, along with amenities of a laundry room, washing-up area and toilet blocks with free hot showers. The bar-restaurant is open in July and August. Too much? Slow down your beating heart by getting along to the high season activities like cinema and theme nights and karaoke; sports tournaments are arranged too if you feel you really must up your pulse.

Local attractions

As you may have figured, this is outdoorsy land, whether you prefer relatively calm days cycling, hiking and fishing, or more hair-raising adventures zipwiring, canyoning and caving. Fancy some via ferrata? Inching along the rock attached to a cable while clinging on to metal bars is an exceptionally topping option around here if you can summon up the nerve; access the via ferrata of Agnielles (and professional instructors) near the village of La Faurie. Less actively, the campsite's local village of Serres is worth wandering around (if only for a breather after hanging high up off rocks): it's a place of cobbled streets and fifteenth/sixteenth century buildings, set high on a hillside on a junction leading to Nyon and to the Rhône Valley.
