Fond of flowers? You'll blooming well love this botanical gem in Provence. No need to be an expert gardener: you don’t even have to know your dahlias from your dandelions to appreciate a site so surrounded by lush vegetation. A lot of care goes into Camping Le Dattier’s gardens, to give a setting of plants and trees, shrubs and flowers reflecting the Mediterranean habitat, cooling and scenting the whole place. The care goes into all the other corners as well on this fine French site a 10-minute drive from Fréjus and its beach; it's equally proud of its pair of swimming pools (one more suited to smaller swimmers), along with a games room, table tennis and tennis courts. If you’re less of a smash-it-over-the net type, and more of a sit-and-sip, you’ll have ample opportunity at the on-site bar and restaurant whose terrace is bang in the middle of a grove of lemon trees (handy if you want an extra slice in your G&T…). Shops for stocking up and life’s essentials (sun cream, more sun cream) are a couple of minutes' walk away. For coastal capers, both Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël (15 minutes’ drive) are big on watersports, from sedate canoeing to paragliding and jetskiing.

Riviera 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: 2 swimming pools, friendly staff, we received everything what we need, quiet area. A lot of showers and toilets.

Disliked: Far away from the city centre, local shops and beach.

Disliked: Lamentable el estado del bloque de sanitarios. Camping 4 estrellas a inspeccionar Mucho Desnivel, difícil acceso Sanitarios lamentables Mala relación calidad- precio No volveremos ni recomendaremos. Cómo web deberían visitar los campings antes de publicitarlos.

Liked: Toller Platz mit einer schönen Vegetation. Sehr viele Palmen. Die Pools sind großartig und trotz Hauptsaison nicht überfüllt. Die Bar und das Essen ist hervorragend. Die Rezeption ist auch sehr gut und freundlich. Sehr hilfsbereit. Der Esel und Spielplatz hat unseren Kindern viel Spaß gemacht.

Disliked: Toiletten ohne Klodeckel, man müsste sich auf die blanke Schüssel setzen. Keine Klobürsten. Wassertemperatur stark schwankend und das Wasser ist gechlort. Wasser zum Spülen viel zu kalt und Spülbecken sind sehr niedrig angebracht. Nachts teilweise sehr laute Discomusik bis 1 Uhr, dann schlagartig Ruhe. 4 Sterne sind es wegen der Sanitäranlagen nicht unbedingt. Der Rest ist aber top. WLAN muss extra bezahlt werden. Für 1 Woche, 2 Geräte, 29 €.

Local attractions

Diehard beach bunnies could spend their whole holiday hopping round the coast and sampling the sands at Cannes (40 minutes’ drive), Antibes (45 minutes) and Nice (50 minutes). If you’re into a quieter and wilder kind of seaside experience, head to Bouloris (25 minutes) to clamber the red rocks and find hidden coves. Walkers are well sorted here too, with the nature-filled Esterel massif to explore half an hour away. Heading further and deeper into Provence, the ancient perched villages of Fayence and Callas are 45 minutes away, as is Grasse, home to lavender meadows, perfume and a museum of perfume too. Markets in Fréjus, Saint-Raphaël and Saint Aygulf (15 minutes) are supremely handy for local produce, picking up presents for Gran and the simple pleasure of strolling about and stopping for a coffee when it suits. Not everyone takes it so slow of course… if even the Mediterranean fails to excite then Aqualand waterpark (10 minutes) has Europe’s biggest wave machine, and a similar distance away there are thrill rides and larks aplenty at Lunapark. To sit still and be thrilled meanwhile, the cast of sharks and dolphins, penguins and seals puts on a show at Marineland near Antibes (45 minutes).

Booking terms and conditions

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

General

In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.

Hired accommodation

Hired accommodation: €350.00 (£305.03) damage/cleanliness/bracelet deposit is required on arrival and will be refunded on departure after inspection of your unit should no damage/losses be found.
Your unit must be left clean and tidy; a fine of €100.00 (£84.57) will be charged for unclean units upon departure.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/04 and 30/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. between 01/07 and 30/09.

Safety

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
