  • Peaceful and spacious site in the spectacular Holperdorper valley
  • Fishing pond, play and water playground and cable car
  • Covering eight hectares close to the Hermann Trail and Ahornweg
Should you be seeking a friendly and laidback vibe and close proximity to the spectacular high-altitude hiking path of Hermannsweg (Hermann Trail), you’d be very well advised to pitch up at Campingplatz Eurocamp. Ramblers frequently use this place as a peaceful stopoff along this spectacular 156-kilometre trail, and families looking for a serene and simple park stay remain a good while longer. This pristine and tree-filled family-run spot in Holperdorp, 170 metres above sea level atop south-facing hills and among meadows and the trees of Teutoburger Forest, has been welcoming families to its spacious, grassy and shaded pitches since 1963. Tiddlies are going to be made up with the water and mud splash area and 58-metre rope slide, or they can clamber around at the sandy playground with trampolines, swings and slide. While they’re getting busy with all that wholesome stuff, grownups can venture to amble around the park’s lush eight hectares, or instead settle down for a spot of fishing at the pond. Eats are sorted at the restaurant, the fare and friendliness of which has received rave reviews by previous guests. As have the hospitality of the owners, the spotless and sparkling state of the sanitary facilities, and the meticulousness of the grounds’ landscaping...

Local attractions

Direct from the site, join the 14-kilometre Teutoschleife Holperdorper trail, which also twice crosses the 156-kilometre Hermannsweg (Hermann Trail) and runs along the ridge of Teutoburg forest and eventually through the Teutoburg Forest/Egge Hills Nature Park just over an hour’s drive away. Part of the 100-kilometre Ahornweg (Maple Trail) stretches through the southern part of the Osnabrück region, and and has five spectacular viewpoints along its highly scenic route. The local villages of Lienen, Bad Iburg and Hagen are all within eight kilometres. For somewhere to swim and splash around in, Lienen has a big outdoor public pool, and for something a tad unusual, there’s a two and a half-kilometre trail to walk without shoes along timber, bark mulch and pebbles among grassy areas, clay and trickling brooks, at the town’s Barfuss-Park (aka Barefoot Park). While you’re getting happily stuck into that, the tiddlers will be kept plenty busy at the water and mud splash area next door. If you’re keen on exploring the area’s history, a particular highlight at Bad Iburg is its 12th-century castle and surrounding Charlottensee gardens and lake, for boat rides and waterside ambles, or you can head to the saltworks and rose garden at Bad Rothenfelde.
