This Sicilian site is nicely named: it's just a couple of kilometres from the spectacular Valley of the Temples, the biggest archaeological site in the world and one of the best-known attractions in Sicily and Italy. As the kids may not be overly interested in that (tsk), make the first fact you share about Camping Valle dei Templi that it's only 600 metres or so from here to the Mediterranean and long lengths of stunning Sicilian beaches. Heaps more are nearby for sandy and sea-based times too: Camping Valle dei Templi is in Sicily's Agrigento province, which has around 150 kilometres of coastline for small explorers to scramble around and fully investigate. (And for the grownups? The Agrigento province is also famed for its wine.) Camping Valle dei Templi is a spacious site, welcoming families and groups, and shaded by olive trees for cooling off from the Sicilian sun. Its plentiful facilities include a pretty outdoor pool with solarium alongside, and a fably-equipped playground with slides, climbing nets, a treehouse and a splendid big pirate ship. The site is a couple of minutes' walk from two mini markets and a grocery shop; close to a bakery, chemist, fishmonger and butcher, and a 500-metre stroll from the coastal path and its several restaurants, shops and ice cream parlours. But aim for some meals at least in the swish site restaurant-pizzeria, to have eats indoors or out on the spacious bar area terrace – and for morning coffees under the Sicilian sun on the Valle dei Templi verandah before another day on the beach.

Liked: A great site , beach just down the road . Supermarket opposite, bud stop outside. Personally I walked to the Temples , then the bus to Agrigento itself, then the bus back to site . Perfect location

Liked: The site is easy access and has good size pitches. It is ideal for visiting the Valle dei Templi and also has a bus service just outside the entrance. There is also a handy food store across the road from the site. It is also close to the marina which has a nice coffee shop/ bar. Unfortunately you cannot take your bikes around the Valle anymore and as I have walking issues, we couldn't go around the temples. Such a shame, as would have gladly paid a bit extra for the convenience.

Disliked: The showers, €0.50 for 4 mins, are functional but a bit small with nowhere dry to put your clothes whilst using them.

Liked: La posizione è comodissima per visitare la vicinissima Valle dei Templi, Agrigento e anche la scala dei Turchi. Il campeggio non è grande, molto accogliente e pulito. Lo staff è estremamente gentile. Ideale per chi cerca un posto tranquillo. Consigliatissimo!

Liked: Personale cortese e gentilissimo. Ambiente pulito e spazioso. Ottimi i servizi bar, lavanderia e attività extra (e.g. noleggio tavole da surf e sup). Distanza perfetta per raggiungere sia le zone balneari sia il centro di Agrigento.

Liked: Camping ben attrezzato , bagni e docce grandi e super pulitissimi , mai visto dei wc così puliti in un area attrezzata , servizio bar e piscina quindi molto comodo , area grande e a pochi passi dal mare di San Leone , inoltre proprio difronte c’è anche un supermercato quindi con la possibilità di fare la spesa , personale gentile e disponibile … davvero tutto quello che può servire si trova .

Local attractions

It's not generally (read: ever) recommended to compel kids to trail around historic sites with geeky grownups, but an exception must be made for the fab Valley of the Temples, within walking distance. Lauded as one of the best examples of ancient Greek architecture and art in the world, the valley has the remains of seven ancient Greek temples over its 1,300 hectares, including those dedicated to Hercules, Juno and Zeus: compare the Greek gods to modern superheroes if you must to get a flicker of interest from your offspring. The 18 rooms of the Agrigento archaeological museum are also well worth a potter around if you can. Elsewhere, beaches, sunbathing and watersports such as sailing, snorkelling, surfing, windsurfing and canoeing are all at your disposal around the Agrigento province. Or just set off on a bike ride around the coast and along the local stretch of the 602-kilometre SIBIT Trapani-Siracusa route, passing spectacular beaches, UNESCO sites and the Marsala sand dunes. Agrigento city is 10 minutes' drive away.

Booking terms and conditions

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Please pick any available pitch on arrival.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

Extras

A charge of €0.50 (£0.44) applies for the use of the shower.

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
Bookings must not be for more than 30 consecutive nights.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Quiet hours must be respected between 11 p.m. and 8:30 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
The bar is open between 01/06 and 15/09.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
The site is not liable for any refund in the event of force majeure.
