With its multiple comforts and top-end facilities, plus an excellent location, Country Camp at Campeggio Paradiso Viareggio might well be the holiday paradise that you’ve been looking for. This family-friendly spot sits between the lively coastal city of Viareggio (10 minutes’ drive) and the town of Torre del Lago (five minutes), so there should be plenty to keep you busy during your Tuscan holiday. The best part? It’s a 20-minute walk (or a zippy five-minute bike ride) from a sandy beach lapped by the gentle waters of the Ligurian Sea. And don’t worry about having to schlep back from the beach under the hot Italian sun: the path to the site goes through a blissfully shaded pine grove. If even that leisurely walk sounds like hard work, you might prefer to spend the day swimming in the outdoor pool on site; meanwhile, active types can hit the sports fields, and the children can make new friends in the playground. If you wish to travel light, you can hire bed linen here. The lodges come with a kitchen corner, and a food shop sells the essentials for a pretty decent family meal (the site also arranges a bread delivery). Need more exotic ingredients? Check out the supermarkets in Viareggio or Torre del Lago. If time on the beach is too valuable to cut short for the sake of cooking, a restaurant on site serves pasta dishes, pizzas and local specialities. And, of course there are plenty of seafood eateries around the harbour in Viareggio. In addition to a toilet block with facilities for disabled guests, there is also a washing-up area and a launderette with dryers.

Local attractions

The composer Giacomo Puccini lived for more than 20 years in an elegant but modest mansion on the banks of Lago di Massaciùccoli (10 minutes’ drive). This is now the Villa Puccini Museum, with displays including the piano where he wrote some of his famed operas, plus family portraits and hunting trophies. Handily, several of the unmissable sights in Pisa (half an hour) are on the same square. The spectacular white-marble complex on Piazza dei Miracoli includes the iconic leaning Tower of Pisa, the cathedral (with a black-and-white striped interior) and the Battistero di San Giovanni – all date from around the 12th century. The walled town of Lucca (half an hour) has a pretty medieval centre anchored by the large Piazza dell’Anfiteatro. Stop for a little people-watching at an alfresco cafe, then continue your opera education with a visit to the Puccini Museum, in the house where the composer was born.

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
The site will send you further check-in information 14 day(s) before your arrival.

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed during high season between 15/07 and 15/08.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
