  • Peaceful family park in Fayón among scenic Zaragoza countryside
  • A short drive from the fish-filled Ribarroja and Mequinenza reservoirs
  • Restaurant, bar, terrace, playground and tackle shop
This is a site for angling. Camping Fayón Fishing is a leafy spot in peaceful Zaragoza countryside between two fish-laden rivers, and a short drive from the equally fish-filled and famed reservoirs of Ribarroja and Mequinenza. Angling is the principal sporting pursuit around the locale, with the scenic Matarraña and Ebro rivers both flowing around half an hour’s walk away. All you might need for weeks of fishing is on hand at the site’s tackle shop, where anglers can pick up licences, boat rentals, electric motors, probes, trailers, bait and the advice of expert local fishermen. Away from the water, Camping Fayón Fishing is in a region crossed by many a major hiking and cycling route: head to reception to pick up handy local tourist info and to talk to the team about their fave spots. Keeping entertained on site is a cinch too, with gardens to laze around, a playground, a TV room, pétanque, football, basketball and tennis are also around for the active. The restaurant dishes up helpings of local eats at lunch or dinnertime; next to it is the site’s bar and terrace, which overlook the site gardens as well as the municipal pools adjacent to the site and 30 metres away. Close by, the site's within easy walking distance of the local village tavernas for plenty more dining options, or for self-catering supplies from local grocery stores.

Local attractions

Plenty of biking and hiking routes are around Fayón, several of which provide spectacular views over the Ebro and Matarraña rivers: wildlife watching is an excellent option here too, so do remain eagle-eyed on your travels. The proximity of the site to its local rivers of Matarraña and Ebro plus the Ribarroja and Mequinenza reservoirs (both a short drive away), makes it a top spot to head to for the sport fishing of species such as catfish, pike-perch, bass and carp – as well as the elusive and enormous Wels catfish. At the site’s local town of Fayón, the museum is a tiptop spot at which to delve into local history. Telling the story of the Battle of the Ebro – the Spanish Civil War’s longest and biggest battle – the museum circuit takes visitors through a large hall of exhibits, past scenes from the battle and among huge standalone artillery objects as well as collections of rifles, shells and other artefacts.
