Coming to Catalonia? Stay within striking distance of the Costa Brava and Barcelona's brilliant attractions at Lifestyle Holidays at Vilanova Park, a family-friendly site four kilometres from the Mediterranean coast. Aquatic attractions abound at Vilanova Park. There’s an outdoor pool with illuminated dancing fountain, a heated indoor pool, waterslides and a shallow splash zone for the kids (grownups may be more into the on-site jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and solarium…). Mini golf, tennis, a gym and volleyball are also available. This self-contained park has a restaurant for dinners and, in July and August, puts on a variety of live entertainment evenings, shows and discos for all the family. The town of Vilanova i la Geltrú is four kilometres away and has a beach club where you can try out windsurfing and diving and hire boats for a spin around the harbour and beyond. Set on the grounds of an old Catalan farm, the site is also an easy 40-minute drive from Barcelona. Parking is fairly straightforward in the city centre, as there are lots of underground car parks where you can leave your vehicle for the day, but there are also public transport options available if you fancy a break from driving (talk to site staff for details).

Emerald 3 bedroom static caravan

Liked: Esta Semana Santa nos alojamos mi pareja y yo con mi hermana y su marido, y una de mis hijas con su novio, en total un grupo familiar de 6. Tanto los responsables del camping como los de la compañía con la que reservamos fueron atentos, eficientes y muy agradables. Las instalaciones muy buenas. Utilicé el servicio Wellness (piscina cubierta, masajista), todo excelente. Sin duda repetiremos.

Local attractions

If you’re feeling a bit breathless after all the energetic activities on site and down at the beach, take a break from the coast and head inland to the Pantà de Foix area (10 minutes’ drive) for strolls around the forests and reservoir, plus Castellet Castle, which you can pre-book tours to visit. If ancient sites are a favourite with your family, head to the port city of Tarragona, 35 minutes’ drive away. Roman ruins are dotted all over, including an amphitheatre right on the beach, and you can learn more about them in the National Archaeological Museum. Another city where you can delve into the history of this part of Catalonia is Lleida (an hour and 20 minutes), where a fortress cathedral dating back to the 13th century dominates the skyline. Then when you’re ready to take the energy up a level again, splash down at Aqualeon (30 minutes), one of the biggest water theme parks in Europe. Or head 45 minutes south to PortAventura World which rolls a theme park, water park and Ferrari-themed attraction all into one.
