  • Laidback glamping site right by the beach near Moncofa
  • A 45-minute drive to the attractions of Valencia
  • Direct access to a sandy beach; play area and launderette on site
If your holiday dream is to wake up by the sea, you've come to the right place… Kampaoh Moncófar is right by the beach, in a quiet spot between Moncofa and Platja de Nules. That means it's just a matter of a few steps from your tent to a swim in the clear waters of the Mediterranean, some time relaxing on the sand or the chance to have a go at various watersports. And while the beach may well be the prime focus here, it's not the only attraction – this Castellón site is also well placed for hikes in the Serra d’Espadà Natural Park and days of exploring the many attractions of Valencia (either of which are enhanced by the prospect of a dip in the sea upon your return). Life on site is very laidback – you'll be staying in smart and sturdy glamping tents that are set up with outdoor and indoor furniture, including beds made up ready for your arrival and a fridge to stash your drinks in. Site facilities include a play area, a launderette and bathrooms with hot showers and a baby bathroom. Several seafront restaurants and bars are a mile or so away in either direction, as are the nearest food shops.

Local attractions

No one would blame you if your sole activity here was wandering out onto the beach by the site and simply spending your days sunbathing, swimming and sandcastle building. If you fancy a very gentle change of scenery, you could just head a little way north or south to get to a different stretch of beach – perhaps going north to Platja de Nules (20 minutes' walk) to rent paddleboards or settle down by the lighthouse, or heading south to get an all-over tan at Moncofa’s naturist beach (five minutes’ drive). Heading inland, the mountain landscapes of the Serra d’Espadà Natural Park (20 minutes) lend themselves to both hiking and cycling, and there are also various adventure activities here including canyoning, climbing and bungee jumping. For a look below the surface, head to Coves de Sant Josep (20 minutes), for a boat tour on an underground river. Valencia (45 minutes) is a great city for a day out – it’s home to the largest aquarium in Europe, a gorgeous cathedral and 34 museums (including those of the fabulous City of Arts and Sciences). Valencia is also the birthplace of paella and home to a huge market full of fresh produce.
