Those in search of a cosy and friendly on-site vibe and lots of water-based activity options within easy reach might find what they’re looking for with this calm forest spot. Plenty of variety is on offer around the region, with the Mediterranean sea, a leisure lake, the waterfalls of Sillans-la-Cascade and the waters of the Gorges du Verdon all within an hour’s drive; even closer to home, the Gorges de Pennafort are around 10 minutes’ away. If you’re looking to spend your days along the coast, the beaches of Fréjus and St-Aygulf can be reached in 40 minutes' drive or less. Set across almost six hectares, the site has swaths of oak, fig and olive trees for shade and privacy, and plenty of facilities to keep you amply occupied. First stop should surely be the pool: lifeguarded during July and August, it’s big, round and roomy, has a waterslide and is surrounded by a siezable solarium dotted with parasols. When in need of cooling off, hang around under the pool’s massage jets. The layout of the leisure facilities have been well thought out: should grownups prefer to stay out of the water, they can settle back with a local wine and a pizza on the restaurant terrace, or head to the pétanque pitch for an easy afternoon bowl while keeping the littlies in sight. Should you need to pick up a few picknic supplies, the rather spectacular medieval hilltop village of Callas is less than 10 minutes’ drive away.

Lokale seværdigheder

Lots of walking trails crisscross the local countryside, and there’s a network of 150 kilometres of mountain biking trails around too. Elsewhere, the Gorges de Pennafort are less than 10 minutes’ drive away (or 25 minutes’ bike ride) and an excellent option for scenic walks, cooling swims and waterside picnics. Further afield are the famed Gorges du Verdon – oft hailed as one of Europe's most handsome – where kayaking, canoeing and rafting are popular, and you can book in to drift peacefully over the waters in a hot air balloon locally there too. For coastal days, it’ll take you less than 40 minutes to drive to the ancient Roman city of Frejus on the Mediterranean coast: there’s heaps to do here for all, including Aqualand waterpark and its toboggan slides. For cultured days, the city is filled with spectacular ancient monuments, including a Gallic amphitheatre (one of the largest of its time), as well as a Roman theatre, ruined Roman baths and the Porte des Gaules aqueduct. Should you be seeking somewhere slightly swankier along the coast, Saint-Tropez, Cannes and Antibes are all around an hour away along the French Riviera.
