What a whale of a time will be had at Camping Moby Dick near Catalonia's Girona. For it's in a lovely locale across from the Spanish seafront, and only 100 metres or so from a scenic and sandy Spanish beach in the quiet coastal town of Calella de Palafrugell: if you yearn for the Costa Brava without heaving crowds, this should be a serene spot for you. Camping Moby Dick is small, rural and family run, welcoming families, solo wanderers and groups of friends, and with a peaceful vibe for chilled Costa Brava days. Pitches are on terraces on a small hill shaded by mature oak and pine trees, and some have sea views. The site is all set up to have most of what you'll need to stay put for quiet days, with a bar-restaurant, a TV room, a playground, a ping pong table, and a grocery shop selling fresh bread and fruit. The modern amenities include toilet blocks, showers and a laundry room.

Syntes om: Sehr angenehme Atmosphäre, ständig erreichbare und freundliche Kontaktpersonen. Alle Sanitären Anlägen werden in non-stop geputzt und sollte einmal etwas defekt sein, wird es umgehend repariert! Es wird stets Toilettenpapier nachgefüllt! Ebenso wird der Platz täglich geharkt und gepflegt. Es sind so viele Duschen, Toiletten und Abwaschplätze vorhanden, dass man nie warten muss (trotz Vollbelegung in der Hochsaison) und die Duschen haben guten Wasserdruck, sind gut regulierbar (heiß-kalt) auch wenn grad alle duschen wollen! Wirklich außergewöhnlich!

Syntes om: Location couldn’t have been better but unfortunately that was the only positive thing I could say .

Syntes ikke om: On arrival there was nowhere to pull in whilst checking in and you could not stay on the road outside the camp as you would be blocking the traffic as it’s the main entrance to the resort. The camp site is teared and we were placed at the top between two trees it was difficult to manoeuvre into the space but the worst thing was walking back up after visiting the bathroom and returning from the town as it was so steep , I’m surprised they pitched us there considering we are nearly 70 years old . Because of the road to all pitches climbs up on a narrow track the other concern would be getting out if there was a fire which at the moment is a possibility as the area is very dry and BBQ’s we’re taking place.

Fra bestyreren: As you may know, August is the peak of the high season in Catalonia. Therefore, indeed things get busy as people arrive and leave during the time you did. In addition, we make no secret that we are located on a hillside. Therefore it is up to clients to determine for themselves whether or not they are fit enough to negotiate the campground environment. As we have limited lower level spaces, we cannot guarantee that every person over age 60 receives a lower level plot. Charcoal fires are not allowed in the campground, only gas stoves. There are fire extinquishers located throughout the campground and thus the risk of an uncontrolled fire is truly minimal. We have never had such an occurrence in the over 60 years of our existence as a camping business. We hope this addresses your concerns. Regards, Camping Moby Dick

Syntes om: Area is outstanding and the town so pretty. You can enjoy walking to many little beaches and to town. The toilets and showers were new and always kept very clean and the showers were hot. Most pitches have plenty of shade.

Syntes ikke om: We didn’t dislike anything though these could be problems for other people: The site is very steep for walking and for caravans and vans. To get our caravan to our pitch you need a strong car. You need to be happy walking up and down hills every time you use the toilet blocks. There is a big difference in pitch sizes so you could end up in a really small pitch which for some people were unsuitable and we saw them leave. when booking a pitch you may want to state the size of your van or caravan so that you are not in a small pitch. In August it is a very busy site due to the popularity of the location

Lokale seværdigheder

The eight (!) award-winning beaches of Calella de Palafrugell around Camping Moby Dick should keep sand and serenity seekers content for some time, but if you want to up the watery ante at any point, you can join the diving school at Port Pelegri beach, hire kayaks at Canadell beach, or take a sailing excursion from the beach of Port Bo – or do the whole heap in between sandy days on beach towels (recommended). Two walking trails to take you round the area are within easy reach of the site, one from Sant Roc to Golfet beach, and another from the centre of Calella de Palafrugell to the village of Llafranc. For cycling, access the local Via Verde, connecting Saita Margarita to the village of Palamós, a tiptop stop in itself for its swimming, sailing and windsurfing bay. Garden fans will go gaga at the nearby and famed botanical gardens of Cap Roig, spreading down terraces from the castle of the Cap Roig estate to the sea and lauded as one of the very best gardens on the whole of the Med. Spanish and international artists exhibit their works at the gardens during the summer months.
