Farm and Fell Campsite

Δεν μου άρεσε: I would not recommend this campsite to anyone who wants a modicum of comfort. The toilets were less than basic and there were no washing facilities - personal or for cooking - beyond standpipe taps dotted here and there. The showers (a good five minute walk away from where we were sited) were £3 a time, which is disgraceful. The road through the campsite was a mud bath and it was the only walking route to the inadequate toilet block. The place felt like an unfinished project. I have stayed in campsites with basic facilities before, but this was inadequate in the extreme.

Από τον διαχειριστή: On the bank holiday weekend that you visited, 56 families stayed with us. No one has paid for a hot shower at our campsite this year - there is no charge. I can only conclude that you gave £3 to someone else - or maybe you didn't visit the showers at all and read last year's reviews to find something to complain about...? Everyone selects their own pitch on the campsite. The closest pitch to the showers is a 135 metre walk. The furthest pitch is a 280 metre walk. Of course, you also had the option to drive to the showers if this was too far for you. There is a sink with washing facilities in the middle of the campsite. You are correct, there are also 6 standpipes in the field with mains water. I don't know what you were washing, but if this wasn't adequate, all you had to do was ask us and we would have let you use our pressure washer. The toilet block contains porcelain, flushing toilets that are inspected and cleaned every 3 hours (and restocked with toilet roll)..... I'm uncertain what you want from a toilet? There is an aspect of personal responsibility. You booked a grass pitch on a grass campsite. It rained for the week prior to your arrival. Not one car or camper van got stuck all weekend. Yes, after a weekend of traffic there was a little mud on the tracks. If that was too much for you then might I suggest that a grass campsite in mid-May in northern England might not be what you are after....and if you are, you might be advised to delay booking until you can confirm the weather forecast. Comfort - I genuinely don't know what more you want us to provide. Notwithstanding everything mentioned above, we opened a barn when it rained with a bar, pool table and background music. The "nice guy" that you mention visited every few hours to ask if he could get you anything - and you didn't ask for anything. Sincerely Brian

Μου άρεσε: Absolutely everything! Great campsite, beautiful views, Ben was so accommodating and fantastic and a great laugh! They have a bar, they have animals, they have showers, they come round every evening with firewood and every morning to collect rubbish and ask how your stay was. It was so good we ended up extending our stay. A stone throw away from Sedbergh town and easy access to both the dales and the lakes. There are some beautiful waterfall walks surrounding the campsite - and you can choose to stay on the upper field or the lower which both offer different sets of stunning views. Furthermore - all the proceeds of this campsite go to charity, which Ben was telling us about and told us his personal story and how the owners of this campsite helped him so much. We will most definitely be back very soon. Thank you all!

Από τον διαχειριστή: For others reading this review, if there are any difficulties or you can't find anything when you stay with us please just ask or let us know. There is a hand washing sink in the middle of the camping field. There's also a tap with mains water outside the toilets. The (free) showers work fine. When a couple of people (out of hundreds) have had difficulty with them, we have asked them to set the mixer tap and give it time for the hot water to come through - and they've been fine. With regard to additional facilities: Free fire pits Free access to the barn with seating, free bouncy castle, pool table, tables, chairs, etc Animal feeding .......everything identified in the listing is provided.....almost all of it free/included in the price. We are on site throughout the day and night, please just ask us if you can't find anything or have any questions. Regards Brian

Μου άρεσε: Lovely location, only a short walk to a few pubs and shops. A lot of space and was very quiet at night.

Μου άρεσε: The whole site was very clean, surrounded by gorgeous country side and very cute animals. The staff running it were lovely, helpful and friendly. Amazing location right next to a river where the dogs and children spent all day playing

Μου άρεσε: It was a well maintained site with beautiful views. A man came round giving out bin bags and then back to collect when they were full. He also sold wood and provided us with a fire pit. There was no charge for the fire pit. They are building a new toilet/shower block to improve facilities more. Excellent - we will definitely be back.
