Liked: Lovely parkland and close proximity to town and supermarkets. Only 10 minutes walk away. Every pitch had an electric point so no need for extension cables which made a change! Facilities were clean and tidy with plenty hot water. Good luck and I hope you have a successful summer.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Firstly staff where very polite and welcoming. We parked in the wrong place which wasn't for touring but we did move next day. Staff where understanding. Touring pitches are good. Ablutions are very clean and showers are brilliant. Warm inside and plenty of hot water. It's nice a peaceful. Peebles is lovely and 0.8 mile walk which took us 15 minutes. Its a nice walk. Also takeaway bring you food straight to the entrance.

Disliked: For the blind like me lol. Bigger sign maybe to stop people pitching up where they shouldn't tho this was all my fault.

Disliked: Costly £40 with EHU. Female toilets dirty

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We are sorry you experienced toilets that were not up to our high standards of cleanliness on a busy bank holiday weekend, Unfortunately we had some users that were not respectful of others and did leave the ladies toilets in a untidy condition. If you had contacted the office or warden this would have been rectified immediately. Our toilets are cleaned once a day between 11 and 1, to coincide with departures and arrivals, We are a very small team and work hard to be welcoming and provide clean facilities . As you can see from other reviews, Our toilets are cleaned to a high standard, But sadly, we cannot control what people do in them. The price is £38 a night with EHU for up to six people, Given the location and free showers, water and chemical waste, We do not feel this is excessive.

Liked: This is a lovely site, very spacious pitches, fabulous dog walk and a short walk into peebles itself. As a solo traveller that weekend I felt very safe ,nice friendly wardens.

Disliked: It's was quite a walk to bin area ,perhaps an other bin area half way along the park would be good ,also no waste disposal drain for moterhomes

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and felt safe. Unfortunately we had to move the bins to the central area as our waste disposal company will not go on the touring area road while there are motorhomes and campers on. It is not wide enough for them to pull in anywhere to let other vehicles pass by. We are looking into waste disposal for motorhomes. We look forward to seeing you again. Thank you.

Liked: Very clean toilets, showers clean and plenty of hot water, lovely big site, nice size grass pitches.

Disliked: Not enough shower blocks, think if the site was full you would be queuing for the toilets and showers

Local attractions

One of the many highlights of the Scottish Borders is that, while the region is rightly popular with savvy holidaymakers, it remains off the mass tourist track so you can gleefully pursue your pastimes without areas becoming overcrowded. Fishing is one of the most popular pursuits in the area is because of Peebles’ proximity to the River Tweed, on the top scale of salmon fishing rivers in the world. Go out on your own with your rod licence or bag a trip/course from one of the many local angling centres nearby; the Tweed and its tributaries yield wild trout and grayling too. Elsewhere in the area, anglers have acres of lochs for coarse fishing and the Berwickshire coast nearby for sea angling – and views – off Eyemouth, Burmouth and St Abbs. The mountain bike trails of Glentress Forest, three miles away, are another big draw for active visitors – the Tweed Bike Festival is held here in May and June and Glentress/Innerleithen are part of the world famous 7stanes mountain biking trails. The award-winning centre at Glentress has trails of all grades and a most modern visitor centre with bike wash, bike hire and a bike shop. The Tweed Love Bike Festival is held at Peebles in early summer, but if you miss it/aren’t a mountain biker, several other festivals cover several other tastes such as arts, jazz, food, Highland Games, Rugby Sevens and the traditional week-long Beltane Festival. Dramatic highlights like shows at the Eastgate can be had at any time of the year, as can sampling fresh local produce in the town’s hotels and restaurants, park and river walks by the Tweed and the prerequisite till-ringing at the Old Town and School Brae. As well as Peebles, the Borders has plenty of other characterful towns to seek out such as Selkirk, Jedburgh, Galashiels and the Borders’ biggest town Hawick; those looking for even brighter lights can make their way to Edinburgh, just 20 miles away.
