Powered grass caravan site

Liked: shop was ok for urgent essentials but a lot of it was not local produce liked the security cameras as a caravaneer stole my candles when i was out and retrieved them due to the said camera footage

Disliked: dusty road, locks on toilet were broken, uneven piches sea views were ok if you had a long neck noisy foul mouthed neighbours and music and a caravelle day van that liked banging his sliding doors at any time of day and night did not like the beach as you could not get on it easily as it is all uneven stones no actual beach in site did not like the farm dog who pooed in front of my van and so had to pick it up did not like 20p payment for shower at £30 fee should have been included

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: Clean well serviced campsite with friendly staff. Easy access to the beach by a path straight from the field. Absolutely stunning location. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back.

Disliked: If I was to be really picky the field wasn't level but that definitely wasn't a deal breaker.

Powered grass caravan site

Liked: Big pitch, nice bar & shop, staff super friendly and helpful. Beach 5 min walk and sunsets amazing.

Disliked: Can only enter the site approaching from the south (from Towyn) due to tight entrance so a bit of reversing required if coming the other way (from Fairbourne direction) Other than that nothing really - perhaps stick a mirror up in the gents shower block.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: Nice small field, next to the beach and railway. We had a lovely walk across the beach.Really friendly staff. Lovely shop and cafe. Nice clean showers and toilets. Good cleaning facilities. Gorgeous views and sunset!

Disliked: We did find it funny but the farms dog roams around and she sneaked in my tent and stole food out my cooler box a few times. Keep your tent zipped up haha!

Local attractions

When you set down here, ready your swimming gear, as Bala Lake (40 minutes’ drive) is a fine setting for sailing, wild swimming and canoeing or hiking the hills on all sides. The kit will come in handy for exploring the Barmouth (30 minutes) seafront by paddleboard, too, or windsurfing and kitesurfing in Aberdyfi (20 minutes). If more active pursuits are what you like your holidays chock-full with, Dolgellau (20 minutes) is a good point of departure for hikes, mountain biking or climbing crags. More beach paddles, perhaps, in Tywyn (15 minutes), followed by a traditional butter bun? Perhaps your preferred way of taking in views is from a cosy seat on an old steam train, such as the Fairbourne Railway (five minutes). It’s one of several historical places you might want to seek out – others include the Dyffryn Ardudwy burial chamber (40 minutes) and the Italian-style Portmeirion (50 minutes) village. Plas Brondanw Gardens (50 minutes) was designed by the same architect that created Portmeirion.
