Abermawr Sunset fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site
Liked: Fully serviced, hard standing pitch with amazing sunset views (If the weather allows!, it did for us!) Facilities were always spotlessly clean, Great location for all this part of Pembrokeshire has to offer. Local pub just a few metres away, didn't eat there but the beers were good and locals friendly. Chris keeps the site spick and span and a nice guy to chat to. Wifi was paid, but very quick, only bought after the bank holiday rush had left, so cant comment on speed of it if site is busy.
Disliked: Showers could of been warmer, but that's just a personal choice. No walks directly from site, so have to drive to all walks.

Liked: Nice clean quiet site. Pitch was good.
Disliked: Could do with lights leading to toilets. Pay extra for wifi

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I'm somewhat confused about comments on the lighting to the toilets . You were on a pitch just 30 metres from the showerblock which has lighting on it all night, plus there is a small floodlight in the corner below your pitch which is on all night. Also just 20m up from your pitch there are reasonably bright lights on a waste disposal point which are also on all night. Short of floodlighting the whole site at night I'm not sure what more we could do. The wifi - as I've said before, we had the fastest system we could buy and have had also paid to have a 1gb suppy installed to feed the wifi which costs us every month. We need to cover the costs and feel that £2 per night for as many devices as you like is a fair price for the service. Many sites do free wifi which runs extremely slowly. Not ours

Liked: We liked everything from the cleanliness of the site, the excellent facilities, the really friendly host, the proximity of the pub, the location just off an A road so no tricky lanes to negotiate. All in all we had a super time and we will definitely return.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I note that you gave us just one star for the WiFi. You didn't actually have the WiFi.. Those who do comment on how fast it is. Also I'd like to point out to others who may read this review that you had booked aGrass Panoramic pitch (with great views of the surrounding countryside. But due to the ground being still to soft to drive on, I put you on a gravel and grass Manorbier pitch at no extra charge. This is why you didn't have the views which you would have had on the Pana pitch due to there being a caravan on the adjacent pitch. This had just been used by its owner and was due to go back into storage. As regards the distance to the showerblock, (96m), If I had known that you preferred to be closer, then I'd have recommended a closer pitch. However you were only 15m from the small block at the top of our site which has a toilet and the 2 washing up sinks, which you may have found to be usefully close.
This was in a great location with lovely views. Shower block…

Abermawr Sunset fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site
Liked: This was in a great location with lovely views. Shower block was very clean, the site was quiet and had large pitches, if the weather had been warmer the picnic table would have been really useful. Chris was very friendly.
Disliked: Having to pay £5 for having a visitor and paying more for WI-FI.

From the manager: Hi Penny. Thanks for the feed back. I must explain that we charge for visitors who come to the site and stay for several hours as they will have arrived by car (parking can be limited at busy times) and will more than likely use our facilities ie. toilets, water and probably a little power. Also the wifi we had installed was the best and fastest system available at the start of 2023. We upgraded our internet connection to almost 1GB to deal with the campsite demand. The £2 per night is for as many devices as you like so we believe it to be a fair price for a fast connection. Our electricity and water bill in 2024 will be in the region of £15500 for a site turning over just over £100000. VAT of £9500 also has to come out of that and so we have to try and cover our costs where reasonably possible. If you still feel that paying for wifi is unreasonable, then we can give it away with no charge but your speed would be limited to 1mb. 99% of people who stay here are very happy with the wifi and often have have 4 or 5 deices connected to the system so in their case 40 or 50p per day seems ok to me.
