Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Nice quiet site, staff very helpful, toilets and showers always clean. Firepits and wood for hire & lots of space to play. Liked how we could pitch with family how we wanted. Location great for Bakewell & Buxton, nearby Aldi. Price was excellent.

Disliked: Nothing

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: It was mine and my kids first time camping and we loved it. My oldest son at 17 uses a wheelchair and we found it ok to get around. There were 2 adults, a toddler a 15 and a 17 year old. Everyone loved the sheep on site. The facilities were great and very clean. The staff were lovely. We had a great time 😊

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: It was well sign posted and easy to navigate to. The field was flat enough, a good choice of space and not overcrowded. The facilities were very well maintained and clean, even with lots of wet weather! Views were stunning. Llamas and sheep and goats were nice neighbours!

Disliked: Could have benefited from an extra shower cubicle or two.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Beautiful scenery and great location. Good toilet facilities. It's a working farm so lot's of lovely animals to see. Great for families. You can put h wherever you like so that's a bonus there is no set pitch sizes. The views are lovely and it's close to all local attractions.

Disliked: The showers aren't great. They are the push button type and not very strong water flow but do the job. I think there should be a bigger dish washing area or at least an extra sink as there's only one and you find yourself waiting around for people to finish their dishes.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Great location of campsite between Buxton and Bakewell. The toilets, showers and pot wash were kept clean and had a hot water. The fields were not too cramped and everyone was respectful of noise l, but it had a good atmosphere and felt safe. Surrounded by fields of sheep and llamas which was lovely. Loved being able to hire a camp fire too.

Local attractions

If guests do decide to give pedal pushing on the 8.5-mile and traffic-free Monsal Trail a go, they can use it to reach Bakewell, stopping at Monsal Head on their merry way for views of the River Wye and the Headstone Viaduct. For leisurely walks with typically stunning Peak District views, try Mam Tor or the Ladybower Reservoir (both around 20 minutes’ drive away); hardier hikers can take on an expedition to Kinder Scout, 40 minutes' drive away, to scale the national park’s highest point. Or, if you’d rather do your sightseeing underground, boat trips through Speedwell Cavern are 20 minutes away...
