Liked: Not much at all

Disliked: Well where to start ,on arrival wasn't told where any of the facilities were I was given pitch 41 what an absolute terrible pitch , over hanging trees very dark ,there are 2 drain covers right by the hardstanding with very insecure lids ,the hard standing was the worst I've ever seen and troughs where people have drove on the grass very sludgy which where I was supposed to have put my awning ,basically a unacceptable pitch .I went back in office ,they were reluctant to move me until I went back a second time to office ,she then pointed to a pitch and said 44 so I went on that pitch she pointed to only to discover it was booked and told to move after I'd spent 1 hour setting up literally across the way from me as I was told the other people had booked 4 nights and we'd only booked 3 . On top of that the shower block and showers were dated and not very clean ,worst showers I've ever seen ,that much lime scale on fixed shower head the water sqirted everywhere other than on me . Overall they seem to focus more on the new part of the site with rv,s and hot tub pitches which were so much cleaner ,never again ,also web site mentioned a micro brewery which apparently has not been there for 2 years . Total waste of money .

Liked: Location. Clean. Later check in. 11am check out was a big thumbs up. Quiet from 11pm. Open space. Nice staff.

Disliked: More level pitch. This is a very minor inconvenience which was easily sorted with some chocks.

Local attractions

Want to come eye to eye with elephants, penguins, tigers and monkeys? Of course you do – so it’s off to Chester Zoo (25 minutes’ drive) to meet all these and lots more beasts from around the globe, taking breaks for boat rides, treetop trails and activities such as face painting if you’ve got small folk that demand a bit more by way of variety. If you’re keen to see more creatures, book bird of prey experiences at Cheshire Falconry (15 minutes), spot the heavy horses at Cotebrook Shire Horse Sanctuary or head for the Blue Planet Aquarium (20 minutes). You might also spot some local wildlife at Delamere Forest (10 minutes) – whether you do or don’t, it’s still a mighty fine place for a walk (and your dog will no doubt wag a tail of approval too). For urban wanders, take off to Chester (25 minutes), Liverpool (45 minutes) or Manchester (50 minutes). There are excellent museums and other attractions in each of these, and some splendid restaurants – if you’re planning a bit of wining and dining while you’re there, perhaps that’s enough of an excuse to invest in new togs at Cheshire Oaks designer outlet (20 minutes)?
