  • Simple off-grid Cornwall site on a smallholding near Camelford
  • Port Isaac, Tintagel and Polzeath beach within 20 minutes' drive
  • Dog-friendly site with private bathrooms; easy access from A39
North Cornwall Campsite @ Pool Cottage is an off-grid site in a mighty handy Cornwall location between Camelford (five minutes’ drive) and Wadebridge (15 minutes). No need to navigate along little country lanes around here: this site on a smallholding has splendidly easy access from the fast-flowing A39. There’s no electricity or wifi for the pitches here, so it’s a fine place to chill out and take in a bit of nature for a while. Off-ground barbecues and firepits are permitted to bring a bit of warmth (and hopefully some good grilled grub) to alfresco evenings spent on site. In a lovely little touch, each pitch here has its own private bathroom facilities so there’ll be no loo queues to contend with. Easy access to that main road also means that it’s straightforward to get out and about, whether you’re hitting the beaches (at Polzeath or Trebarwith Strand), striding out across Bodmin Moor, biking along the Camel Trail, pottering around pretty Port Isaac or bimbling around the biomes at the Eden Project. If you got stuck in to some of those outdoor activities, you may find it handy to know that there’s a bracing cold-water shower to cool off in back at base, along with an area for rinsing and hanging wetsuits. And if you’ve got a four-legged pal that looks like they might be up for some Cornwall walkies, they’re welcome to join you on site here too. Not got a dog to bring along? You'll not be starved of animal company, as the permanent residents of this site include chickens and ducks, and the site has its own beehives too.
