  • On the Grand Canyon caverns and among tall trees
  • Set on historic USA Route 66
  • Pool, convenience store, barbecue pit and wifi
On the world-famed USA Route 66 and a base for the jaw-dropping vista of the vast and fab Grand Canyon: it doesn't get much more 'Merican than this. Guests at Arizona's Grand Canyon Cavers RV Park will be staying in a spot on top of the canyon's caverns, which are accessible by elevator in the caverns buildings a short stroll away. The campground is based at the small settlement of Peach Springs, a reservation of the native Hualapai tribe who've added a Skywalk with glass floor and spectacular Canyon views: this is very much a site where you'll need a fully-charged camera. Canyon Cavers guests also have access to the park's outdoor pool, disc golf course and miles of nature trails meandering around the 800 acres of this vast Arizona space. The campground is heavily treed so has plenty of cool shaded spots, and has a laundry and convenience store, earth pitches with hot showers, and electricity and wifi in its communal area. And before you take off for the day canyoning, sightseeing, or rafting on the nearby Colorado River? Fill cavernous tums with a free breakfast to set you up for the day first.

Local attractions

Hit the road, Jack: this is spectacular land for scenery, wildlife, national parks and outdoor activities, from rodeo riding nearby to rafting along the local stretch of the Colarado River's vast 1,450-mile run. And then there's the Grand Canyon, one of the most smashingly scenic spots in all of the USA… stick around for some time to see as much of it as poss. After several days' worth gawping at or spelunking in the Canyon caverns, other options nearby include a hike from the Pearl Springs reservation lodge to the Hualapai Hilltop for an eight-mile trek to the town of Supai and the Havasu Falls; getting to the Hilltop by helicopter or horseback trip, and wandering around the 18 or so protected wilderness areas making up the Springs's region of Mohave County. And as Grand Canyon Cavers RV Park is on the old and iconic US Route 66, do hit the road too at some point, stopping off at the many restaurants and steakhouses dotted along the way.
