One beach not enough for you? There are plenty more nearby that are worth some of your time – perhaps Punta d’en Guineu (10 minutes’ drive), which has watersports rentals, Tamarit (15 minutes), where the beach sits in the shadow of the castle, or Cala Fonda (25 minutes), where you'll walk through a pine forest to reach the golden sands. If it's time for a break from the beach, you may like to get up into the trees at Jungle Trek adventure park (15 minutes), hit the waterslides of Aquopolis Costa Daurada - La Pineda Salou (half an hour) or explore the various themed areas of PortAventura World (25 minutes). If you don't have kids to amuse, a trip to Vermouth Padró & Co (half an hour) might appeal instead. A day of history should certainly be on the schedule too, with a trip to the lovely city of Tarragona (20 minutes), home to several Roman sites.
