Set in the green countryside of Devon's quiet interior, Meadow Park Wild Camping is a family-friendly back to basics site where you can bag a great getaway close to Exmoor National Park and the north Devon coast. This frill-free site has large unmarked pitches for tents, with facilities limited to running water and portable toilets. Other than that, the experience of staying here is very similar to wild camping. Children can play safely in the knowledge that no cars are driving around the grounds (all vehicles must be parked in the designated area), and barbecues and firepits are allowed too. The pitches here are all set in peaceful parkland that's dotted with trees against the backdrop of an 18th-century Palladian-style mansion, Castle Hill. Filleigh, the village, is also home to The Stags Head Inn (half a mile from base), a 16th-century thatched pub in a valley on the Fortescue Estate. The market town of South Molton (10 minutes' drive) is also close at hand if you're looking for supermarkets, a post office, shops or a trip to a weekly market. The edge of Exmoor National Park is a quarter of an hour away, while getting to the north Devon coast at Saunton Sands or Westward Ho! takes approximately 30 minutes.
