  • Wild camping on a small farm in the Calder Valley, West Yorkshire
  • A 20-minute drive to Leeds galleries, and 40 minutes to Harewood House
  • Farm shop and animals on site; close to fishing, walks and museums
The meadow campsite at Willow Grove Farm is a hideaway with a boho vibe on a farm at the southern end of the Calder Valley near Leeds. Overlooking both the Aire and Calder rivers (anglers please take note), this spot is in pole position for upping your cultural intake with visits to historic houses and art galleries across West Yorkshire. If that’s not quite your thing, you’ve got 105 hectares of farm land to explore. From there, you have direct access to walking and cycling routes, and in around an hour’s drive, you can be yomping up and down dales to your heart’s content. The site being on a farm rearing pigs and sheep, with roaming sheepdogs (your dog can come too) and hens, it won’t be too long before you’ve made some animal chums. You won’t have to share your new-found pals with too many other guests either, as there are only a few pitches on the wild camping field, as well as a simple shower and loo block. No need to look very far for provisions either, as farm owners Josh and Luke run a traditional shop selling homemade farmhouse bakes, eggs from their free-range hens and delicious pork from their home-reared pigs. They’re also more than happy to show you around the farm, answer any questions and recommend places for you to visit. On top of this they intend to increase their pig herd in order to keep up with demand in the shop and keep supplying local products at reasonable prices!
