The Garlic Farm is a site that definitely won't leave a bad taste in your mouth... It's a small place for glamping, set in a private field near the village of Newchurch on the Isle of Wight, and around 10 minutes' drive from the nearest beach with attractions such as theme parks close to hand. True to its name, these guys love growing garlic – you’ll find products here that range from practical to pleasantly peculiar. Miles of walking, cycling and horse riding trails run direct from the site and it's within easy reach of lots of popular visitor attractions. And as you might already know, one of the pluses of being on the Isle of Wight is that everything is nearby: the island has an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty flanking its west coast and the Hamstead Heritage Coast is another great destination for clifftop walks. Accommodation is in yurts, each with its own firepit, as well as a hammock for lazy days. Guest facilities include a tennis court, a football pitch, a fishing lake, an outdoor play area and a games room with table football and ping pong. Nip over to the on-site shop and restaurant for free wifi, plus enough homemade produce to ward off vampires for life – the restaurant is open breakfast and lunch daily.

Local attractions

Amazon World Zoo Park, a conservation centre with rainforest plants as well as over 200 animal species including tapirs, meerkats and armadillos, is only a five-minute drive away. Further afield, Tapnell Farm Park at Yarmouth (30 minutes' drive) is another place for the kids to get close to wildlife such as wallabies and goats, as well as let loose in the Straw Bale Adventure Zone and huge indoor play barn. If woodland theme parks are your bag, an afternoon at Robin Hill Country Park will be a top pick, with rides and adventure and play areas. Blackgang Chine is another first-rate theme park well worth a look: here you can fight pirates aboard your own ship or explore a sunken shipwreck. A 10-minute drive from the site brings you to the coastal prehistoric museum of Dinosaur Isle. Or make your way towards the Needles Lighthouse - set on a chalky peninsula, the historic building is 45 minutes’ drive from The Garlic Farm. From here, you can explore an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for hiking, cycling and, for those in the know, stargazing. There are also any number of beaches close to hand for sand basking on one of the UK's sunniest destinations.
