For a peaceful and private outdoor experience, head down to Sheep Hill Campsite, where a two-acre private woodland has been set aside for exclusive-use camping. This rural spot is surrounded by wildlife, flowers and greenery but is within a quarter of an hour's drive of Exeter city centre and its cathedral. The south Devon coast is also within striking distance, as are the wilds of Dartmoor National Park just 10 minutes down the road. Set among mature woods and forest, this grass and woodchip pitch is in a shaded area and has the use of a basic toilet and a washing-up area. Accessories like a picnic table, two folding chairs, a storage area and a firepit with a grill plate are all included. Dogs are welcome here throughout Sheep Hill Campsite's camping season. While Sheep Hill Campsite is all set up for outdoor self-catering breaks, you're also under a mile from the nearest pub in the small village of Longdown. The closest convenience store, meanwhile, is two miles away on the quiet outskirts of Exeter, and proper supermarkets can be reached in roughly a 10-minute drive.
