Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: Kids like the play area. Good location to walk the dog.

Disliked: Very tight area for parking a caravan. Took the corner off (so did our neighbour!). Very dirty toilets and showers. No soap, toilet roll etc.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Arrived and was greeted with concerned faces that there may not be enough room for our tent. We were shown to the “pitch”. We could just about squeeze our tent in front of 2 other tents. We were told our car could stay on a hard standing pitch until a caravan arrived. After an hour 2 more campers arrived and squeezed their tents onto the patch of grass. It was as cramped as a festival. To make it worse the entire campsite was full of disrespectful families that were shouting and swearing at their young children. Outdoor taps were left on swamping the entire campsite. After 2 hours of being on the campsite we left to buy a windbreaker to stop drunk parents and their kids playing football in the doorway of our tent. We were then woken up at 6am to more shouting, swearing and antisocial behaviour. The kids were running riot shouting at people in the toilets, climbing up hedges and running out at cars in the road. We spent the whole day out and came back to no car parking space as one tent had 3 cars and a motorbike. After one night we decided to pack up our stuff and drive home back to south wales as the whole experience was terrible. The “facilities” in the campsite were shocking. Faeces smeared over the toilets, urine on the seats and floors and no toilet roll. The toilets in the men’s did not flush and there was one grubby shower. The toilets had a cleaning monitoring sheet which had not been signed or touched ever. The campsite was DISGUSTING. If you want to waste your time, energy and money then I highly recommend this site. It was only until we were in the car on the way home did we notice and pay attention to the bad reviews which all said the same.

Liked: What I mostly liked about the site was the privacy from the main road and the amount of shady parts there is when it's a bit to hot to be in the sun

Disliked: The cleaning of the toilets could be a bit better

Liked: Easy to access the site and barriers to provide security, friendly site, helpful, small shop on site. Showers and toilets if needed. Picnic benches and play area for the kids and a barbecue area for anyone to use.

Disliked: Toilets were dirty because I think kids may have used them alone. Could do with hourly inspections.

Liked: As there are so many bad reviews for this site I'm going to leave a good one. We had a great time here, showers and toilets was cleaned regularly, staff on site was helpfull with us hooking up our electricity as there was no close ones to our tent, we was able to hook up to a touring van outlet at no extra charges, pitch sizes was more than ample as there is no max size. The price of the 2 night stay was excellent, peaceful surroundings not to far drive from a good few beaches we visited on out weekend overall a great spot at a grand price don't be put off by bad reviews.

Disliked: Leaving for home

Local attractions

It’s 10 minutes’ drive from here to Buckfast Abbey, an active Benedictine monastery dating back to 1018; get cultural here then balance it out with an offbeat activity like a trip to the House of Marbles in the small town of Bovey Tracey (under 15 minutes away) for the mesmerising glass displays, games museum and pottery pieces. For urban times in a bigger settlement, Exeter’s 30 minutes away – skedaddle here to tour the cathedral and the city centre’s underground passages; high-street shopping is also excellent in Devon’s capital on the River Exe. Also on the water, Plymouth is 35 minutes south if you fancy checking out the famed spot where the Pilgrim fathers first left for the US on the Mayflower in 1620...
