  • 10 minute drive to Cheddar and Glastonbury
  • Composting toilet, hand washing, fire pits and firewood available.
With views of Glastonbury Tor, Nyland Hill and the Mendips from the camping field, Ash Tree Meadow gives guests a taster of the delightful Somerset Levels without even leaving the site. Overlooked by its namesake mature ash tree and bordered by a small river, this is a relaxed, back-to-basics sort of place for everyone looking for a wild camping adventure. Walkers and cyclists keen to get out exploring the Somerset countryside around Cheddar Gorge, or indeed anyone just wanting to chill amid gorgeous panoramas – all are welcome on this simple, secluded pop-up site, where you can pick your own spacious and unmarked pitch. Kids and any canine companions can let off steam on the camping field safely as all cars must be parked in a designated spot. Simple amenities include a composting loo and firepits are available to hire, so bring your own barbecue bits from home – and please bear in mind when packing your gear that there is no electricity or running water on site.

Meadow primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: in the midst of nature, amazing panorama

Disliked: A bit of walk from the main road.( backpackers) signpost please. and gate entrance too close to the ditch or riverside for walkers, risks of falling to the water especially at night.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hiya thankyou for your review. We are slightly confused about your comments about the ditch, although the reeds are long the distance is definitely safe. Did you open the gate as advised or walk around the fence? We hope everything else about your stay was okay and we hope to see you again.

Loved it! Beautiful calm scenery and nice big pitch. Would definitely come…
