  • Simple Somerset pitches by an orchard in the grounds of a family home
  • Burnham-on-Sea five minutes' drive; 25 minutes to Cheddar Gorge
  • Handy stopover for M5 journeys; easy access from the A38
As handy Somerset stopover locations go, this one scores a lot of points. Ivy Cottage Campsite is just off the A38 and just a few minutes' drive from Junction 22 of the M5, so it's in an excellent spot for an overnight stop on a long motorway journey. What’s even better is that this quiet little campsite is just a couple of miles from Burnham-on-Sea, so once you're set up you’ll be able to sneak off for a paddle, a swim or a bit of sunset-watching easily enough. Supermarkets and takeaways are a couple of minutes' drive away on the edge of town, and there's a village pub half a mile away. Burnham-on-Sea has plenty of pubs and other places to eat as well (including fish and chips to take to the beach, of course). This is a fairly simple site in a peaceful setting in the grounds of the owners' cottage. Dog-friendly grass pitches have views of the neighbouring orchard and access to portable toilets (please note there are no showers on site). If you're stopping for longer than one night there's plenty to keep you busy nearby, including coastal walks, shopping trips to Clarks Village and visits to Cheddar Gorge.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Was a lovely little campsite. On arrival had a lovely chat with owner to find this is the first year campsite has been open. So the facilities are very limited. But am sure will improve over time. But nothing is too much trouble for them. We will definitely be back. Bonus prize got to watch deer grazing in the next field in the morning.
