Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely campsite, came with my mum to do a bit of fishing on the Callan River. Campsite only 5min walk from the river. Quiet site with a playground, fire pits and a sheltered area to sit and relax. Had all amenities including a kitchen, fridge and a converted portaloo that was clean and well stocked. Will definitely return!

FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: We booked 2 nights fully servive pitches and really enjoyed our stay. Campsite is small quiet and lovely views over the countryside. The owners came by each evening to say hello and check everything was OK, which was a nice touch.

FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Relaxed character. All necessary facilities on site. Proximity to attractions and Armagh.

Disliked: Not enough showers, although good, on site if full. Incessant tractors and trailers on the road until 1am! Slurry spreading somewhere nearby.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: This was a great stay. Just a 5 minute drive from Armagh town centre, the amenities at the site were clean and well maintained daily, our son had a great time at the play area safely located beside the tents

FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Little playground was popular with the little kids. Owners very nice and friendly. Kitchen was clean and well maintained.

Disliked: We had an enormous amount of flies for some reason. Our van doesn’t have a fly screen so we spent a lot of time swatting them as they wouldn’t leave the van no matter whether we had the doors open. Not something the owners can fix but worth mentioning! I think maybe it was the proximity to the ploughed fields.

Local attractions

Start with a stroll into Armagh to see its two cathedrals (both called St Patrick’s – don’t get confused…), visit the Armagh County Museum and Armagh Gaol and see what’s on at the Market Place Theatre & Arts Centre. The Armagh Astronomy Centre and Planetarium is worth a visit too, to see the light displays of star constellations and let kids dress up and make their own rockets. A little way out of town (10 minutes’ drive from the site) is Navan Centre & Fort, an archaeological site where costumed characters bring the Celtic legends to life on guided tours. Things are rather more refined at Ardress House and The Agrory, a pair of smart stately homes about 15 minutes’ drive away. If it’s outdoor activities on the schedule, head out for walks in Loughgall Country Park (10 minutes) and Gosford Forest Park (20 minutes) or a stroll by the water at Craigavon Lake (half an hour). There’s a golf course at Loughgall as well, or you could take a tour of the orchards at Armagh Cider Company (15 minutes) for a taste of what’s known as ‘the orchard county’.
