  • Yurt on a 53-acre farm next to the Cynghordy Viaduct and train line
  • A 10-minute drive from Llandovery and 20 minutes from Crychan Forest
  • Superking bed, kitchenette, private toilet; veg and eggs for sale
Bronfelen Farm is a site with a single yurt set amid 53 acres of land next to the Cynghordy Viaduct and the Heart of Wales heritage train line. It’s in a rural area surrounded by forestry on the outskirts of Llandovery (20 minutes’ drive) and has spectacular views over Pen y Fan mountain, the highest point in the Brecon Beacons National Park. With a superking bed to snuggle up on next to the logburner while gazing at the night’s sky through the starlight set above, the yurt is a cosy space for hols in west Wales. It’s set in its own field, so you can spot trains, play games and have private barbecues during the daytime while keeping an eye out for some of the farm’s animals. The site is also home to free-range poultry, so there’s always an abundance of fresh chicken and duck eggs, along with seasonal veg from the polytunnel (bring cash for the honesty box). Your first basket of wood is supplied for free and more can be purchased from the owners. Cooking indoors is possible too as there’s a kitchenette with a two-ring gas hob and a washing-up sink plus tea, coffee, sugar and milk. A small coolbox is supplied with ice packs, and drinking water is provided separately in bottles. There’s no mains electricity available, so this is a prime place for having an off-grid experience (although the 4G and phone signal is said to be excellent and a power bank table is supplied for charging phones or tablets up to five times). Solar and battery-powered lights are on hand to help you navigate in the dark and there’s a private outdoor flushing toilet.
