  • Wildlife haven between mountains and beaches
  • Friendly site with modern facilities
  • Pool and paddling pool, sun terrace, playground and free wifi
Settle down in a Cathar Country wildlife haven between mountains and beaches at Ushuaïa Villages Camping Figurotta, a friendly and family-friendly French site surrounded by vineyards and countryside a ten-kilometre drive from the beaches of Narbonne. The commune of Bizanet, with fourteenth-century Château de Gaussan, is only 800 metres from base. Samantha, Yannick and family run things on an amicable basis here, with a decent range of modern facilities including a seasonal pool surrounded by a sunbathing area with sun loungers; a paddling pool; a playground; a pétanque court and a ping pong table. Board games can be borrowed in reception if you feel the urge to get competitive in the TV room. Ushuaïa Villages Camping Figurotta also has a snack bar, where staff can take orders for baguettes and croissants to be delivered fresh the next morning. Wifi on the site is free.

Powered grass and gravel campsite

Liked: Lovely rural setting, very friendly with the owners dog and goats wandering about

Disliked: Unisex toilets, too many facilities closed for low season. No reception open during the mornings and only automatic check in system

From the manager: Thank you for comments and your opinion. Our second facilities block is an outside space and the actual temperatures are too cold to open it. We did it one year and it costs us bad reviews from chilly customers. The reception is open from 9 to 12am and from 2 to 6 pm, but arrivals are from 2pm. In low season, my husband and me are the only staff and we can be on the site during the day. Please next time, feel free to give us a call and we'll come and check you in. :)

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. We are glad to learn that you enjoyed our site. Unfortunately we are in low season and our swimming pool is outdoor so cannot be used in November as well as the restaurant terrace. As for sanitary facilities, we educate our customers about wise use but cannot be held responsible for this type of problem.

Everything was extremely well organised and pleasant.

Local attractions

Many walking and hiking trails crisscross the vineyards of this part of Languedoc-Roussillon, traversing or ending up at small regional villages where the local gastronomy and tasty wines should most certainly be sampled. By car, a 20-minute drive will take you to the medieval village of Lagrasse, one of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, and to Minerve, famed for its wine production (which is saying quite a lot in these vineyardy parts). The 300 hectares and 3,800 or so inhabitants of animal park Réserve Africaine de Sigean are also about 20 minutes away. Thirty kilometres away, have a day around the museums, shops and bars of the city of Carcassonne, the splendid fortified town with a UNESCO World Heritage Site medieval fortress.
