Parlez-vous français? Never mind – even if you're anglais without a word of le lingo, you'll surely see from the site name that this is Pyrénées camping in a splendid setting. And regardless of your native source, you'll surely see with a quick look at the pics that Camping Pyrénées Natura that this is a stunning place. The first excellent feature of this site's setting is that it's five minutes' walk from Estaing among the spectacular surroundings of the Pyrénées National Park; the views from here are worth yet another flick through the pics... Both the GR 10 and the Tour du Val d'Azun routes are directly accessible from the park. Next up, it's only half an hour's drive from here to the world-famed pilgrimage centre of Lourdes for exploring further afield, and an hour and 20 minutes to both the Col du Tourmalet and the UNESCO-listed Cirque de Gavarnie for some of the most scenic cycling you'll do anywhere in the world. The Spanish border is a couple of hours away. The friendly welcome of your helpful hosts Marie, Christine and Lionel is also very much worth a mention; they and the team will assist guests to the utmost in getting the most from their hols around this lush land, whether that's exploring some or all the above, or lounging around the grounds to take in the views once more. For on-site days, a playground and a giant chess set will keep kids out of mischief while adults bubble gently in the wellness centre sauna for a reasonable extra charge... or you could pick up beer, wine and soft drinks at the well-stocked shop to gather the clan for drinks on the terrace or by your berth. The bar serves breakfast and lunch including sandwiches and homemade pizza. Bread and croissants are baked fresh on site each morning, so guests can wake up to this enticing scent among these excellent Hautes-Pyrénées views.

Route directions

Please note: guests driving large vehicles must not approach the campsite via Col d'Aubisque as this road is not suitable for large motorhomes or caravans. A weekly market takes place in Argeles Gazost every Tuesday and access to this area and traffic is restricted. For this reason, the owners strongly advise caravans and motorhomes drivers to avoid departing/arriving between 6am and 2pm on Tuesdays. The campsite is located 15 miles south of Lourdes. From Lourdes take the D821/D821A towards Argeles Gazost, following the signs for Val d’Azun, Col d’Aubisque and Aucun. In Argeles-Gazost take the D918 signposted Val d'Azun. After 4.5 miles turn left on D13 to Bun. Go past Bun and across the river. Turn right onto D103 and continue for approximately 2 miles following signposts to 'Lac d'Estaing'. The site is at the entrance of the village.

Lourdes, Massabielle Grotto and the Rosary basilica are easily accessible from the site within about half an hour, as well as the mountain passes of Col du Soulor (25 minutes) and Col du Tourmalet, an hour and 20 minutes away.
