Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Excellent reception and a warm fuss free welcome. The restaurant and bar were really good , the food was much more than the usual Burger or Pizza choice.

Disliked: The only slight negative was the grass on the camping pitches could have been a bit shorter, the Mosquitos were out in force !!

Powered grass campsite

Liked: This our second stay and we use the site as an overnight stop before going on as we use the tunnel and travel with our dog from Devon. The site is an easy drive to and from the tunnel/ ferry. It is away from town and in the country. The staff are super friendly and excellent English speakers for those less adept at French They even help to book a local vet for the return trip. The shower block is clean and plenty of units so no filthy over used cubicles or toilets Nice on site food Pitches are a reasonable size There is a 10 minute walk to a forest walk so ideal for dogs or a cycle route to the beaches. At the bottom of the site we had 5G on 02. Struggle to get 3G in most of rural England. Certainly won’t be our last stop over at this site

Powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked: Nice and handy as a stop over heading back to the uk , Lovely clean site , nice walks with having the dog with us , very good size pitch , nice and quite no road noise, worth staying longer at , two very good size swimming pools , but we’re closed on our visit as it was the end of the season, that wasn’t a issue for us at all . In the village a lovely bakery, Oliver was very helpful on our arrival. Explained everything to us .

Local attractions

The region is well served by road, rail and sea connections, including services such as the Eurostar and several from major Channel maritime operators. Camping Château du Gandspette is 45 minutes’ drive from the Calais-Fréthun high-speed rail international station too, making one-hour journeys to London, 30-minute journeys to Lille and two-hour journeys to Brussels and Paris a cinch. The site’s Caps et Marais d'Opale Natural Regional Park setting is tiptop for hikes and bike rides around the area, with the GR 128 hiking trail (between Wissant in France and Gand in Belgium) within easy reach. Horse riding, fishing and golf are available in Ruminghem and St Omer, and for kid-friendly days out, bowling, go-karting and theme parks such as Dennlys Parc at Dennebroeucq and Plopsaland de Panne in Belgium are all within an hour’s drive. History buffs can take a trip to the Eperlecques Blockhouse, a kilometre from base, and the La Coupole bunker complex (aka the St Omer Dome) is less than 20 minutes’ drive away. Other war memorial sites and points of interest well worth a trip to include the Fortress of Mimoyecques, the 1939-1945 Museum at Ambleteuse, the Memorial Museum at Calais, the Atlantic Wall Museum in Audinghen and the Memorial Museum at Dunkirk.
