Sheephouse Campsite

A aimé : Very clean facilities and friendly owners, pool room was a nice touch, awesome seeing a plane land right next to us on the private runway.

N'a pas aimé: The site is very close to a busy road and this is noticeable thorough the early hours. The site isn't checked and the neighbouring campers were up very late chatting loudly which was annoying.

A aimé : Big pitches in well kept field. Facilities clean and well maintained. Very friendly and welcoming owners. Great location to explore Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire. The kids loved the chickens, the games room and watching the little aeroplane take off and land in the neighbouring airstrip.

N'a pas aimé: Not very peaceful: the main road is very near and the field also hosted a car boot sale on the Sunday and Monday of our visit.

A aimé : Nice place to stay, there is everything you need on camping site, clean and tidy. Playroom is a great idea. Very friendly and helpful owners.

N'a pas aimé: Noisy as close to main road. Showers that need to be pressed every 20 seconds!

A aimé : Lovely campsite, clean and very well maintained, had a really nice greeting on our arrival and everything was explained to us before we set up. Kitchen and games room was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend this site.

N'a pas aimé: The only issues we had were that alot of the places to camp up were on a slight incline, so you felt like you were rolling off an airbed, the only other thing to note which was not the campsites fault, but could have been controlled was the fact we went out for a walk and a drink in a local pub but by the time we got back we had goal posts next to us with kids kicking a football, nothing unusual in that but would have been nice if someone could have asked them to go in the play area.

A aimé : As first time camping we liked that it was small , showers and toilets were clean and well kept. The kitchen was useful and could use the fridge and freezer and was able to charge phones ect . The boys enjoyed the games room were there was a pool table and ping pong table. Had free access to the car boot that ran for 2 days as it was a bank holiday. We could also use WiFi, although if its busy it was tricky to connect. Loved that it was relaxed with arrival and departure times , there's no rushing around. Dogs were welcome.The kids also enjoyed the little runway and watched the plane take off, so it was a lovely stay for our first time would definitely book again.

N'a pas aimé: Only a small thing is that it was close to a main road so you could hear cars all through the night.

A aimé : Great location, easy to find, nice clean facilities and friendly helpful hosts.

N'a pas aimé: Very sharp turn to get in off the main road, with limited visibility when exciting the site. Bathroom sink taps do not stay on long enough to even rinse one’s hands, never mind wash them properly

A aimé : No allocated pitches, no set arrival and departure times. Clean facilities.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Hi, thank you for your review. We do try to be as laid back as possible and to allow campers extra time to enjoy their holiday, without adding to the stress of setting up and packing away at set times.

A aimé : Lovely well-kept campsite with bonuses of climbing frame, chickens, WiFi and access to freezer and kettle. Short drive to large shops and a choice of family days out. We'd come back again!

There are certainly a lot of family days out in the Forest. It would be lovely to see you again, so you can explore more of them!

A aimé : This was our second stay. All perfect as before. Everything was clean and tidy despite being a busy weekend. Amazing hosts always working hard to keep everything ticking over nicely. Always enjoy the chickens and the Rooster every morning. Great little site which we have booked again for a couple of months time. Always grateful for the freezer, and the kettle, in the kitchen.

N'a pas aimé: No dislikes, love the place and cant wait to come back. **Not a dislike just an observation which I forgot to mention at the time. Fridge seemed to be unplugged or not very cold (if guests are relying on that alone). We wouldn't normally use it but we overestimated the room left in the coolbox when we nipped to Tesco.

We do try and keep things as clean and tidy as we can (it can get a bit messy between me checking up on it though!) Thank you for the comment about the "fridge". It is actually a second freezer and isn't plugged in. We should put up a sign to say it is out of action - sorry!

A aimé : Great little site. Very well presented. Showers, toilets, kitchen room all onsite. Free WiFi was a bonus! Located between Chepstow and Lydney to plenty of day trips to be had. We will return.

N'a pas aimé: A busy A-road runs alongside the campsite, so the noise of passing vehicles can be heard at all hours. It didn’t overly bother us, but it was noticeable.
