Pack up your bucket and spade if you’re heading to Rosa Campsite – this is prime sandcastle territory. In fact, with a smashing (and lengthy) sandy beach a mere few minutes’ amble from the site, it’s worth bringing all your fave beach kit to make the most of your coastal stay… Vicky and Shaun have set up their site in a quiet spot around a 10-minute walk from Chapel Point beach, and take pride in the friendly and helpful welcome they offer to guests. There’s a peaceful rural vibe here, with acres of farmland views to gaze out over, but it's all only 20 minutes' walk from the pubs, cafés and small supermarket in the coastal village of Chapel St Leonards. Pitches are in a large grass field that’s pleasingly flat, with plenty of space for kids’ games and family barbecues to co-exist without issue. Showers are close by for convenient riddance of accumulated sand; they’re free to use and kept mightily clean. A washing-up area and recycling facility are also provided to keep the place spick and span.

A aimé : Lovely well kept site, nice and quiet, 10 minute walk to the beech, shower block and toilets, drinking water, waste disposal, washing area for pots and pans. All in all amazing little site. Owners very accommodating and friendly! Will 100% be back!

Réponse du gestionnaire : I’m sorry to hear your review. Obviously staying over the bank holiday weekend we were at full capacity and this means there is a big demand on the facilities. I do clean regularly as you will have read in my previous reviews but I am unable to go in after every customer. I do leave a mop available in the showers with the hope that if a person leaves a mess they have a quick mop round but unfortunately not everyone feels this way

A aimé : * Excellent Location. It's only 15 min walk from the beach. * Nice flat grass. Made sleeping more comfortable

N'a pas aimé: * Noisy because of cars and people. The campsite is tiny and wedged between two roads, and a driveway goes through. Our tent was a couple of meters from the road and driveway. We placed our car in front of our tent because we worried about vehicles in the driveway not seeing our tent and running over us. Also, the dogs were barking and growling. One of our neighbours brought a handheld vacuum cleaner they used late in the evening, and a couple of tents had music. Also, the toilets had very noisy hand dryers. Given the size of the site, we could hear them late in the evening. While everything on its own was not too loud, the site was more noisy than our house, so the feeling of being outdoors was ruined. * Toilets could have been cleaner. The floor was always wet, and many surfaces had not been cleaned for months. A suspicious-looking brown stain by the door was there during our whole stay. * No toilet paper is provided! * No place to hang a towel or a toilet roll in the toilet. * Too many dogs and not always on a lead. At least one dog marked its territory by weeing on our tent. * This is not a campsite to visit if you want to return to nature. Overall, the camp is OK if you are there to meet friends, socialise and go to the beach. But the noise, light pollution and proximity to the road and other tents make the place quite busy.

A aimé : The best thing about this campsite is the location - walking distance to beach and fishing pond and close enough to Skegness beach and attractions. This is a small, cosy, well looked after campsite with level pitches, I would definitely recommend.

A aimé : The site is smaller than expected but it meant the facilities were only a short walk away which was really handy. We liked the free hot showers and hot water for washing up with some washing up liquid left out to use. The lady running the site was lovely and we enjoyed having a chat with her.

N'a pas aimé: You have to bring your own loo roll which I found a nuisance at times, especially with a toddler that needs to wee right now and the loo roll has vanished in the tent! The toilets were clean but we struggled a bit with handwash running out in one of the cubicles.

Attractions à proximité

Beachy options of all flavours are within easy reach if you’d like to expand your paddling horizons beyond Chapel Point. Drive for 10 minutes to reach the natural dunes of Anderby Creek or head the other way for all sorts of amusements in Ingoldmells. Fantasy Island is the big draw in town – rides and rollercoasters await for visitors of all ages, plus bowling, adventure golf, go-karts and plenty more. The seaside resort of Skegness is about 20 minutes away; traditional fun here includes donkey rides, amusement arcades and some smashing splashing in the Fairy Dell paddling pool. Skegness Aquarium has a fab collection of marine animals including sharks, octopus and colourful clown fish, and animal fans should take a detour to Skegness's Natureland Seal Sanctuary too. Further furry friends await your visit at Hardys Animal Farm, 10 minutes away – take a tractor ride, feed the goats and, if you’re lucky, see newborn baby lambs and fluffy chicks. Gunby Hall, a National Trust property 20 minutes away, makes another great day out: take the house tour before wandering round the walled gardens and wildflower areas of the estate and having a genteel game of croquet. If your walking boots want a bit of action, it'll take you 25 minutes to drive over to the Lincolnshire Wolds, where you can hit the trails through woodland and grassland to see the wildlife now abundant in the abandoned chalk pits.
