Want to wander around the wilds of Cornwall – and tuck up in a warm comfy bed in a luxury location each night at the end of play? Take that as a starter for 10 or so south-west days at Country View Cottage and Yurts on Cornwall’s north coast near Perranporth and five miles from Newquay. There’s some serious luxury going at the yurts here – you might say ‘as good as you’d get at home’, except your interiors are maybe nor as sparklingly clean and cute-looking as these… Each yurt is decked out with rustic wooden furniture most peeps would happily have in their own living rooms and is maintained to standards that most peeps would be well chuffed to have in their homes too. Guests also have a yurt skylight for stargazing, a 32-inch flatscreen telly, fluffy towels and a private decking area with sturdy barbecue. Site facilities are in the Woodshed: a building with ladies’ and gents’ shower and toilet amenities, each with two shower cubicles, two toilets, and two sinks with power sockets and vanity mirror; a communal kitchen with shared cooker/sink and a fridge and cupboard private to each yurt, and two washing machines alongside two metered dryers. A private washroom and toilet is also available for disabled guests. Booked yet? Country View Cottage and Yurts also has a play area to keep the kids busy and a free heated outdoor swimming pool: you might just want to pack the whole site up and take it home…

Getting wet or staying dry? Although Country View Cottages and Yurts is a short drive from the north Cornwall coast and Cornwall’s surf capital Newquay, there’s a right heap of laidback landlubbing choices for those who prefer to stay out of wetsuits. North Cornwall has 70 miles of beaches to wander around and sunbathe/rockpool at; many lead directly onto the seriously scenic South West Coast Path, 630 miles of properly splendid scenery running from Minehead in Somerset round to Poole Harbour in Dorset. The old tin mines of St Agnes – five miles away and part of the Cornish Mines World Heritage Site – are also well worth a look, particularly Wheal Coates between St Agnes and Porthtowan (selfie alert). If, however, getting wet among many watery options and surf schools floats your boat more, well, congrats to you for coming to the right place. Newquay is of course the best-known surfing spot in Cornwall, but plenty of other options are around for a quieter vibe or other types of watersports. Also have a float on your board around Perranporth and Fistral beach, both with surf schools, or try kitesurfing at Perran Sands, Towan beach or utterly lovely Watergate Bay.
