Soak up the Sarthe scenery with a serene stay at Camping Onlycamp de la Vègre, a quiet rural spot in a particularly peaceful position on the banks of the Vègre river. Peaceful… and handy too, as the site is in the village of Tennie, a few minutes’ walk from the shops, bakery and bus stops in the village centre. That means sorting food locally should be pretty straightforward (something grilled on the shared barbecue, perhaps?), but if you want a bit more choice you’ll only need to head to nearby Conlie (10 minutes’ drive),which has a bigger supermarket and a good cluster of shops and restaurants. There’s plenty of space at this family-friendly site, with pitches marked out by hedges and shaded by trees to keep things cool in the heat of summer. You may well find yourselves simply chilling out here for long stretches of your holiday – but if you fancy a bit more activity it’s handy to know that the site is surrounded by lots of leisure facilities. Two outdoor pools (with free access for guests), miniature golf, tennis and fishing are all a short stroll away, and you can pick up hiking trails close by too. Making this place your base also means you'll be in a good position for trips to Le Mans, as well as all sorts of other outings like horse riding, château visits and zoo days at Domain Pescheray.

Parcela na trawiastym podłożu z opcjonalnym podłączeniem do prądu

Polubione: Nothing to like. None of the facilities were open. The toilet block,washing up area etc were dirty. The swimming pool was closed off for repair. The whole site should have been closed, due to flooding. We were stuck in the mud with no help ,as we were the only people on the site and the reception was closed. We left to find somewhere else to stay and thankfully found an aire, before moving on to our next site.

Niepolubione: As above. The whole stay was very stressful. This was our first visit abroad with our camper van and at one point nearly our last. However,once we moved on things did improve. We understand no one is responsible for the weather, but if you have people staying on your sites, you should ensure there safety. No one checked to see if we were ok.

For example, there’s horse riding about 10 minutes away, or how about a day out with the huskies? The team on site can put you in touch with an outfit that organises sled dog rides and walks with these fabulous dogs. For more animal encounters, you could visit the farmyard gang at Le Paradis de la Charnie (10 minutes), or take yourselves off to meet more exotic species in the zoo at Domain Pescheray (50 minutes). History is easy to encounter in this area, with visits to places like Château de Sourches (five minutes), with its stunning peony collection in the garden, and Château Médiéval de Sillé le Guillaume (15 minutes). Meanwhile, for a bit more adrenaline, the Museum of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (40 minutes) will give you a good taste of this incredible event.
