It's between two rivers – and one might guess that is in a land of a few lakes too... And one would be très correct if so, as this Savoie campsite is within most easy reach of watery bodies in the departments of Rhône-Alpes. Swimming spots, clear waters and lakeside beaches are only a few kilometres away, and within easy driving distance are the glacial lake of Paladru, where ancient human settlements have been unearthed from its chalky bed, and the famed Lake Bourget, a fave for aeons of French artists and writers (you'll guess pourquoi when you see it). Les 3 Lacs is a large and peaceful place, set on a riverbank on five hectares of land shaded by trees, and with modern facilities including a heated pool with slides; sports fields; a grocery shop, a restaurant and a bar. Fishing is available in the river bordering the site. Sport tournaments, entertainment nights, gigs, magic shows and dance evenings are arranged by the site team in high season.

Atrações locais

A land of lakes, rivers and quite a few mountains too… one might guess that is in a setting where outdoor activities are easy to find… Watery stuff first, mais oui: highly recommended by the site team is a day at the scenic lake of Paladru, a famed French spot for underwater archaeology as it's where settlements of the Isère were found in the 1970s. The tale of this and more is told at the Archaeological Museum of Lake Paladru, beside the town hall in Charavines. Also around the lake are three recreation areas at Bois d'Amour, Charavines, and the Véronnière in Monferrato; greenway walking trails north and south; the Marsh Trail wildlife walk, and many mountain bike trails (pick up a free map for these at the Voiron Charavines tourist information office). Fishing for perch and pike is available in the lake if you have the relevant angling licence. More ancient landscapes are at the gorges and deeply scored valleys of the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park on the Savoie and Isère department border, or you could go modern for the day and take the kids to the Rhône-Alpes setting of the Wallibi theme parks, in Les Avenières between Lyon and Chambéry and open from May to October.
