Theme parks, a Shakespearean balcony and one of the most famed lakes in Italy/ Europe/ the world – and that's only what's around Altomincio Family Park to keep tastes of all types occupied on an Italian hol… This swish family site in the province of Verona is a few minutes' drive from the Veneto town of Valeggio sul Mincio, and a short drive from the watersports and shoreside wanders of vast and spectacular Lake Garda. For city sightseeing, theatrical settings and romantic declamations, Verona and the romantic balcony of Romeo and Juliet is within 30 kilometres; Gardaland, one of the most visited theme parks in the world, is less than 20 minutes' drive from this peaceful base. An excellent waterpark is on site for days of dips when you're not off out adventuring; there's a play area and summer club to sort the kids, and you can bounce a ball around at the volleyball court or ping pong table. Bikes are available to hire in high season for venturing into the surrounding landscape. The Altomincio Family Park restaurant serves everything from traditional Italian breakfasts to quick snacks to family meals, and is the venue in the evenings for live music and entertainment. There's a supermarket at your disposal to source fresh groceries and other foodie items, and a shop selling international newspapers, books and souvenirs.

Atrações locais

Sigurtà Park Valeggio is one of the musts among the many scenic sights nearby, about five kilometres from the site just outside Valeggio sul Mincio Valeggio. This big and green space includes a park with bike trails, ornamental gardens, an award-winning maze, walkways around 18 ponds and lakes, and a play farm for kids. A somewhat less serene but also much recommended family time can be sorted among the rollercoasters, waterpark and family rides of Gardaland, the famed theme park adjacent to Lake Garda that's ranked as one of the top 10 in the world. Mini – and full-sized – film buffs should also mosey along to the Hollywood-inspired amusement park of Movieland, under 20 minutes away; waterpark hunters have Canevaland within the same distance. Verona is about 30 kilometres from the site: declaiming love to your other half (or mortifying the kids) from Romeo and Juliet's balcony, taking in a concert at the vast Verona Arena, and wandering around the UNESCO-listed architecture and streets on a Verona adventure should all keep you nicely busy. Watersports, quad bike excursions, hiking and cycling are also available nearby.
