Spacious and peaceful, Crake Trees Manor is an organic family farm site with views over the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's 15 minutes' drive from the M6 and A66 and half an hour from Penrith, Cumbria. In the Westmorland Dales just to the east of the Lake District National Park, Crake Trees Manor sits at the centre of an organic family farm, 800 feet high up with spectacular views over the farm to the Eden valley and the Pennines. The farm is in a wildlife haven and has stargazing by night under the clear dark skies of Cumbria. The site has a licensed bar and regularly hosts live music from both well-known DJs and up-and-coming local bands. Events are kids-friendly and end at 10pm to let everyone get a good night's rest. The accommodation areas are on mown pathways in conservation grassland, with long grass and wildflowers all around. A short walk from the pitches gets you to the shower and toilet block (where individual wetrooms have underflooor heating), and the covered kitchen area (which has sinks, hot water, a microwave and kettle and a freezer for ice packs and a fridge). If you'd like a proper alfresco experience, try out the outdoor shower, where you can douse yourself with hot water out in the open air. Homemade food is available on site too, with breakfast baps available for delivery each morning plus a pop-up pizza service and a café during the summer and autumn months. Designated vehicle parking is in the farm courtyard, with wheelbarrows to transport your kit. Please do not park by the pitches. This site does not allow campfires, but you are able to hire a firepit from the site (please do this when finalising your booking).

Tyckte om: My Dad and I turned up on a soggy night and were dreading setting up our tents. The farmer offered us the bunk house as an alternative which was fabulous. Lovely clean and well maintained working farm surrounded by sublime views. Would definitely stay here again. Beautiful place 😍

Tyckte om: Spacious grounds with lots of animals on fields. Very quiet and hosts are brilliant. Stayed in the pod. Very comfortable and clean, shower and toilet facilities are great too. Definitely coming back.

Green campinghytt

Tyckte om: Stayed in the pods. Basic as expected, clean with beautiful views. Fire pit with starter kit lasted us 2 nights . The kitchen and toilet/shower block was a 60 second walk . Good powerful showers with hot water . What made the visit was the barn and live music on the Saturday , and not forgetting the owners who clearly work their backsides off in order to keep this place as lovely as it is. Can’t wait to return

Tyckte om: Lovely farm and campsite. Facilities were amazing. Very lovely and helpful owners. Easy access to walking routes and lakes nearby. Choose your own pitch on the field.

Tyckte inte om: Not a lot of shops close by so bring food and extra essentials ahead of time.

Walking and cycling to and from our farm is so easy with loads of trail guides in our community kitchen The Combine Shed farm kitchen and The Raven Bar are open each weekend which is very popular with our visitors, and folks from the local villages.

Tyckte om: Loved the views of the Pennines, Tom the friendly cat, the friendly chicken, the wild flow meadows, the plentiful and and cleanly facilities. Visit if you would enjoy a quiter, camp site away from the over crowded lake district ones.

Från föreståndaren: Ahhh Tommy Tittlemouse. He is always exploring the campsite, if he's not asleep on a comfy chair at the farmhouse.if you don't like cats just shoo him away. We have rare breed hens, they are Old English Pheasant breed that are on the priority list of the rare breed survival trust. The hens lay small blue white eggs that have a special flavour.

Excellent, quiet site. Clean facilities. Friendly people.

Från föreståndaren: Our camper van pitches are a new addition this year at Crake Trees. We have just 4 off grid pitches right on the edge of the wildflower meadow. Its an easy pull off the track and back pitch has loads of space and wonderful views over the farm and down the valley to the lovely village of Crosby Ravensworth.

Tyckte om: The campsite was lovely, facilities were good apart from not offering food as stated on website. The pigs were adorable! Mike was wonderful, accommodating, asking about our day, offering advice on days out/activities etc

Tyckte inte om: Ruth (I'm presuming, was not wonderful!) Her extremely RUDE telephone manner nearly caused used to pack up and come home until Mike saved the day. Ruth we would have pitched our tent in the correct place, had the signs been stated CLEARLY or if you would've kindly welcomed us. Also you said you weren't serving food due to it been September...it was still AUGUST. All in all a lovely site and Mike works really hard to keep the customers happy, it's just a shame his wife doesn't share the same passion.

Från föreståndaren: I lovely to be so popular! I welcomed these campers by text as we were not in on arrival. We were all at a funeral. But all visitors receive a detailed email with check in instructions. Plus there is an estate map which very clearly tells campers where to pitch. Grown ups and couples in one field, Families in another. Despite being a ‘couple’ they pitched right in middle of the family field. All was hunky dory until ….. 1. They refused to move their tent after one night to the couples field claiming they were disabled. 2. They would not keep their dog on a lead despite being asked by Mike repeatedly 3. All our family( which included the chef ) were at a family funeral, so Michelle was told no pizzas or bar open 4. They were Pizzas, Bar open and a live band on other nights of their stay. But, I’m obviously the 👹 of the party

Tyckte om: We had a fantastic 2 night stay camping. The pitches weren’t too close together which was nice for some privacy. The home made pizzas were delicious. We hired a fire pit for both nights and got a free bag of logs for each night which was great for roasting marshmallows! Lovely short walk to a nearby pub that had amazing food!

By foot or bike, the farm is close to several horse-riding trails: it’s adjacent to the Coast to Coast and Land's End to John O'Groats bike routes and near the Westmorland Way and Lady Annes Way hiking paths. And that’s not all… Cumbria and the Westmorland Dales have several circular cycle trails passing through the local village too. If jaunts in the car appeal instead, type Alston into the satnav and travel 50 minutes on a scenic drive voted one of England’s best, ending up in a famed market town so historical it’s appeared in both Oliver Twist and Jane Eyre... To potter through a pretty urban centre a touch closer to the site, Kendal is 40 minutes away from Crake Trees Manor and has 12th-century ruins to roam round as well as a natural history museum. Feel like pootling about another stately building? Lowther Castle and its gorgeous gardens are a 25-minute drive, while ambles around the banks of stunning Haweswater Reservoir are within reach in 30 if getting back to Lake District nature takes your fancy...
