For extended stays, Kansas breaks or stopovers on your way north, south, east or west, pull in to Big Chief RV Park at Coffeyville, in a countryside living spot minutes from town. Big Chief welcomes holidaymakers and tourers as well as workers and companies looking for workforce housing: it's just north of the Coffeyville Resources refinery and across from Coffeyville Municipal Airport, John Deere and a distribution centre for Amazon.com. The site is well set up for convenient and comfy stays, with spacious, fully-serviced pitches with grassy areas between. There's high-speed wifi, a communal bath/shower house and a coin-operated laundry. Barbecues are allowed. The park is pet friendly: please just keep your dog on a lead outside your unit and remember to pick up after them when needed.

For days of leisure, nearby Coffeyville has an aquatic centre equipped with two waterslides, a zero-depth pool and a recreational room. The town also has the Aviation Heritage Museum, covering the history of aviation in Coffeyville, and the Brown Mansion, built in 1904 and open to the public. Coffeyville was the scene of the demise of the Dalton Gang, who tried to rob the bank here in 1892. Four of the gang were killed in the resulting shootout, along with four townspeople killed defending the town: find out the whole tale at the Dalton Defenders Plaza & Death Alley and the Dalton Defenders Museum. A short drive from Big Chief are the challenging hills and waterways of the Hillcrest 18-hole golf course, owned by the city. Cart rentals are available and there's a driving range. Oklahoma's second biggest city Tulsa is about 75 miles away.
