Right on the edge of the gorgeous Forest of Dean, Greenway Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a lovingly maintained site on an independent five-acre smallholding in Gloucestershire. What will you find here? Great grounds, for starters, plus pretty views and easy access to all the local area has to offer. You'll be pitching up a 10-minute walk away from the pleasant village of Drybrook, where there’s a family-friendly pub that also welcomes dogs. The village also has handy amenities like a post office, a fish-and-chip shop, butcher’s, pharmacy, petrol station and supermarket. A two-minute walk off the site and down the lane takes you into the woods and many different footpaths, most of which are bike-friendly. Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth and Gloucester are all within a half-hour drive, so you can spend a day exploring these historic towns and cities and still be back to base in time to watch the sun go down. Flat and level pitches are set in green pastureland, a short walk from the park’s excellent facilities, which include centrally heated bathroom blocks with toilets, sinks, power showers and hairdryers. There is also a washing-up cabin with free hot water and ice-pack freezing, plus a laundry room and a well-stocked visitor information area.

喜欢: Great site and pitches, easy to access with a motorhome, lots of clean showers and toilets, cafe/restaurant on site, great dog walks from the site (we saw deer and wild boar in the forest, 5 mins away!) Friendly staff and esp liked being sent a site plan via Whatsapp - very useful!

不喜欢: We live in a cul-de-sac at home, so noticed the traffic for about half an hour in the mornings - most people probably wouldn't. Means no country lanes to negotiate with a motorhome though, so not an issue

喜欢: The facilities are the cleanest I've ever seen and I've been camping around the UK and Europe for 40 years. Lots of showers and sinks for the number of pitches. The cafe on site was a bonus. just a couple hundred metres to fantastic dog walk area.

不喜欢: The check in closing at 5:30pm.

喜欢: very clean showers and toilet on level pitch with electric -very handy cafe on site with good food -owner currently adding lodges which look great with own hot tub-dave the owner needs to slow down cutting grass at 8 pm at night.

不喜欢: nothing had a great stay

喜欢: The very friendly Dave who was very helpful in changing our pitch as we decided we didn't want to be on gravel but grass.Site was lovely big open green field with lovely views. Not far on foot from a little village with a friendly pub ( dog friendly) and a CO OP On site there was a lovely cafe selling breakfasts cakes and meals you can also take away from here.

喜欢: Although weather was terrible on arrival we were warmly greeted by Dave, pitch was spacious and very tidy. Water not to far away. Cafe on site served up excellent food and reasonable priced. Would highly recommend a visit here

喜欢: Owner very friendly. Cafe is good too. 8mins walk to drybrook not a lot there. Toilets and showers clean. We got stuck on the grass the owner helped us with no problems.

Symonds Yat (20 minutes’ drive) sits on a rocky outcrop above the River Wye. After you’ve admired views of the valley and lush countryside (and perhaps spotted a peregrine falcon or two soaring above the water), you can take a stroll through the forest (there are several circular trails) or hire a canoe or paddleboard to take in the scene from a different viewpoint. Cross the River Wye and you’re in Wales, where you can spend a few hours wandering around the pretty town of Monmouth (20 minutes), with the stone Monnow Bridge, the Castle & Regimental Museum and a thriving high street lined with cafés and independent shops. The remains of Tintern Abbey (35 minutes) stand on the banks of the River Wye, and what remains they are. Built in the Middle Ages, this ruined edifice still impresses with its Gothic window frame decorating the facade and arches running the length of the nave. The green forested setting is no slouch either, with Lippets Grove Nature Reserve just across the river.
